This company performed substandard work, especially improper flashing around a chimney and boots, which caused a major leak the very day the complete roof replacement was finished. The company tried to pretend the chimney was defective but a chimney expert with a camera on a rope could find nothing wrong. The company then failed to return phone calls to have their alleged insurance cover the cost of replacement and even interfered with a warranty reimbursement from the shingle manufacturer of the previous application by failing to save two shingles as was promised. Luckily the homeowner had two remaining from the left-over package of the installation 20 years prior. Homeowner has had to pay out of pocket not only to replace the flashing on the chimney and the roof walls, but the boot installation and the valley were improperly installed as well. All in all, one third of the roof installed by Preferred Exteriors was replaced by a higher manufacturer-certified installer than Preferred Exteriors at the expense of the homeowner. Googling the business reveals that they took COVID-era paycheck protection payments during this period while providing no services owed to this and likely other customers. If they are out of business, it is probably no surprise as one should have suspected that the name change of the business from P**** Construction to Preferred Exteriors and Renovations may have been from a former lawsuit. Not sure what is going on because Dun & Bradstreet lists them as in business but with Rickey P**** as President rather than Duane P****. Stay clear of them in any event -- one of their relatives cheated my husband's family in business a few decades prior, so this kind of disappointing service appears to run in the family.
