    On 8/2/23, Matt ******* of Matt’s Construction Services emailed ******* ******* a quote for roof replacement, including materials and labor, of $9600. Matt did bathroom remodel in June 2023, and advised *** and ******* that the roof was in disrepair, and needed to be replaced “no later than winter”. On 9/1, contract was accepted, and replacement scheduled for 10/6.

    On 9/15, Matt requested deposit of $4200 for roofing materials, as he was planning on purchasing from ****** Supply. 9/21 Matt was given check #*** for $4200, and on 9/22 the check was cashed.

    10/6 roof replacement was cancelled due to rain. Heard nothing until 11/2 when ******* contacted via text for update. Matt stated at this time that he was “waiting on a call back from his workers”. This was the last contact with Matt. Text messages were sent by ******* on 11/17, 11/18, 11/25, and the last on 11/29 when refund was requested. ******* called Matt and left voice mail on 11/26. ******* emailed Matt on 12/5.

    On 12/13, *** called ****** ******, and the manager stated there was no record of any purchases by Matt, nor his company, in the last 10 years.

    Joseph called and left voice mail on 12/26. All attempts to contact have remained unanswered. Matt lives in *******’s mother’s neighborhood, and he has been seen driving to and from home multiple times since last contact.

    Matt ******* owes us a $900 refund for a material down payment for Sky Lights & Flashing Tape per attached estimate/contract, which we paid him via check # **** on 8/19/2023. These materials were never delivered to our job site (our home at ***** ********** ***** ***** *** ******** ** *****) because he never returned to complete that part of the job (sky light replacement) after completing the siding portion of the work on 9/25/2023. Our calls and texts to him have gone unreturned since 10/23/2023.

    Entered into an agreement on July 27, 2023 with Matt ******* (dba) Matt's Construction Services to remove existing deck surface and railing/posts. Matt's quote proposal indicated that the company is bonded and insured. Provided Matt ******* with personal check in the amount of $7,500 for the advance purchase of materials; check cashed on July 27, 2023. Matt ******* kept delaying the project and it became apparent that he was not going to be a reliable person to complete the project. I requested a refund of my initial payment of $7,500 and he stated he did not have the money to return to me. On November 21, 2023 I filed a police report of grand theft against Matt *******.
