I contracted with Renovations By Rhys to build an addition to my home. The contract was for the rough framing, drywall hanging and finishing, and a finished roof. The rough framing and roof were completed on July 29, 2024. I received the final bill for services to that point of $4400 and paid it promptly on July 31, 2024. There was a $6000 deposit that was paid when the project started. There was rain on August 1 & 2, 2024 and I had water leaking into the new addition. On Saturday August 3, 2024 I went up on the roof to see why the roof was leaking. I could see behind the piece of roof flashing that there was no step flashing installed, I had requested that ice guard underlayment be used and that was not installed, and I could see the underlayment between gaps in the first row of shingles because the proper row of starter shingles was not installed. The step flashing seals where the roof deck and house wall meet and keep water from entering the home. I put a piece of vinyl step flashing behind the siding as a temporary stop gap measure as Rhys has told me he was out of town on vacation for 2 weeks. On August 6, 2024 we were hit with more rain and I got a lot more water in the addition. I notified Rhys of this via email. (Pics of emails submitted). I was told by Rhys that the flashing he installed was sufficient. While waiting for one of his guys to come out to fix the roof, I had a roofer I know come and look at what was installed. He stated there were too many issues and there would continue to be leaks unless the roof was torn off and redone properly. After not getting any messages back from Rhys, I instructed the other roofer to fix what was originally installed as I no longer trust Rhys to fix what was installed incorrectly the first time. I notified Rhys that I had another roofer to fix the roof and asked him to come to a resolution on the issue. I have received no responses from Rhys.
