My daughter first went to Dr. Wenger office in ****** a year and a half ago (July 2023). We were told everything was included in the price of $3500 (spacers, expanders, and braces) and that has been paid in full. Fast forward to now (January 2025), when it’s time for her to get her braces. My daughter and I are directed to an office to discuss “appointments and financials”. The first woman we speak hands me a paper with another $5800 estimate. I say “I already paid for all this, you told me spacers, expanders, and braces were included”. She says “That was just for phase 1, this is now phase 2”. After some back and forth I ask to speak with the office manager. She explains there are two phases of treatment, so this new estimate covers phase 2. I tell her no one ever mentioned a phase 2 to us, and definitely didn’t mention paying more money. I also inquire to the fact she’s never had braces yet. They say “The original phase only includes four individual braces, which she didn’t get because Dr Wenger decided to just use the expanders to shift her teeth.” My daughter never received any braces, which was included in the total amount I have already paid. After again much back and forth, the office manager and myself were not seeing eye to eye on this issue, with her repeatedly stating in different forms that this was the treatment plan and how much it would cost moving forward.

Upon signing up with Wenger Orthodontics, it was never communicated to me that my daughter would need two phases of treatment, and it was never communicated what the potential cost could be. It was also not communicated that the doctor made the decision to forgo the braces and just use the expanders to shift her teeth. This is not true informed consent, as I would have taken my business elsewhere had I known they would be charging $9300 by the end of everything. This is disgusting and sleepy business behavior, as they should have noted all these points up front.
