**** worked for me on and off for a year completing such jobs as remodeling my kitchen, the bathroom, painting, and replacing the roof. Initially **** seemed motivated, responsive, transparent, and trustworthy. Due to me being out of state, I took comfort knowing that **** was proactive about managing certain tasks since I had recently lost my property manager.

I paid **** the deposit of $7500 for the roof in September 2023, and the work was supposed to have started then. When I reached out about the status of the roof, I was given excuses such as severe weather and sickness. **** also stated that he had discovered one of his “employees” was doing meth and the roof job was postponed until the spring. Things took a turn when **** sent me a very strange text on May 25th, 2024, asking me to prepay the balance of the roof that was $5000. He said his parents had a sick dog that needed surgery, and he did not have anyone else to ask.

One of ****** jobs was to paint the inside of the entire house. I was unaware that **** was subcontracting other “employees” to do the work. It was discovered that different shades of paint were used in addition to flat and semigloss paint used together on the same wall. The “employees” that were performing the work smelled of weed and alcohol. There was random paint in areas that were not supposed to have it, in addition to paint on the wood trim and shelving because no tape was used. There were cracks in the walls that were supposed to have been repaired and none of the ceilings were painted. The laundry chute was even covered up during the bathroom remodel.

**** was tasked with installing a smart lock on the door to enable me access to the property. I sent a gateway to **** and made it a priority to install the lock. **** deliberately stalled, lied, and never installed the gateway. I sent **** an email on July 25, 2024, asking how he intended to make things right as he owes me $2100, but I have not heard or received a response.

    Hello,
Please find attached the receipts for the work in question.
In my last email to ****, I explained how much I’ve paid him and how much he
    still owes me.
The fee for painting the house was $1800, repairing the
drywall was $800, and sealing the basement floor was $268.75 that I never paid
    him for. 1800 + 800 - 250 = 2350. A very rough estimate. **** owes me more, but I’m
just trying to recoup the obvious issues. I'm not able to upload the last email that I sent to ****.

The entire house had to be repainted, and the drywall
repaired properly. The bathroom remodel was $3843, and the plumbing installed
in both the bathroom and kitchen sinks was illegal and had to be replaced. In
addition, the vanity installed was crooked, the laundry chute covered up, and
the entire bathroom had to be repainted.
