Company destroyed our yard and new paint job in our basement due to carelessness. No protective padding was use to cover our basement floor before they mixed and poured cement in an area of basement. Dug up dirt to waterproof outside using bobcat( I think thats what its called) which was fine but then drove in their trucks all over our yard and left it. They claimed grass seed was spread but not ONE blade of grass has grown. Minimal straw used to cover seed. Can see dirt through straw. Only addressed area around house they dug up not all the ruts and tracks they made by carelessly driving all aver our yard in the trucks. We have water pooling in 2 of the newly placed glass block windows. Dirt was use in the window ***** with very thin layer of gravel placed over dirt. Concrete pad by back door that they tore out and replaced. Never used any fill dirt to bring ground level at concrete like rest off sidewalk. They left chunks of concrete exposed. Black drain pipe is sticking out and partially crushed. Dont even know what it is supposed to do. Didnt lay French drains in front of house like agreed. Area they. Covered with straw was never smoothed down and there are rocks and chunks of dirt everywhere, include up to house where fill dirt was to be put. Tore out shrubs and plants to get access to house, which was ok, but didnt fill in holes or smooth at all. Just used straw barely. We have water collecting all around house and in ruts made by their tires. Tried to discuss with owner, ***** **********, but he said everything was done that was agreed to. When asked how he wanted to handle repainting basement area that was destroyed his response was if you send me an invoice for the basement painting I will send you and invoice for the sewer pipe.Business Response

We did not use a bobcat, we used a mini excavator. *** k was no where around when inspection was done or first deposit or even at all until she handed me the check on the final day! I have been in contact and shown *** ******** everything. Yet he has not responded to anything personal texts or group texts. But i do have over ******************************************** 5. How would you like me to send the rest, to the email we have been talking through? *** is saying we never laid grass seed. it was laid on the 15th and and this time it was the 22nd. Grass is not going to grow that fast! Also *** is saying that we didnt lay enough straw, YOU DO NOT lay straw on heavy as it will not allow the grass to grow! Never had a complaint on a yard in over 6 years! *** has sent pictures and in these pictures you will see that the grass is growing! Also you will see in these pictures that we did areas other that just around the home! We regrades nothing about the yard is mentioned. As you see in the pictures that will be provided we went beyond just the home in the front you can see the areas that we seeded and strawed as well. As for the concrete pad we had just poured it and you cannot add dirt up against freshly poured concrete. So before handing out check why would you not ask hey whats going on with this area, because you were shown everything before handing over check. We did not leave chunks exposed. You will see in the pictures that there was not. They show up when settling happens thats natural. Also for the black pipe that was apart of the old system that was torn out. It was a piece that was in the back fill dirt. Again normal. Have pictures of the the "drains" she said we didnt lay as again she was never around for anything. Pictures were provided to *** ********. The original job was to add pipe to garage side but *** said no he only had 15k to spend instead of the original 19k that he was quoted before. He took the pipe off but wanted it regraded still. Well the trees were in the way and they said they could go anyways! That we can put them in the ***** next to the home on their property! So we did as we said you can see we graded it and added seed and straw! You will see his response and the pictures and video i sent to him. If i can add a video to this i will most certainly do so please let me know if I can! It will provide me going around the whole yard and showing water coming out the pipes. We did a sewer line for them and didn't charge them at all. Now it is our fault for messing up the floor. I told them to send an invoice for the painting of the floor. I have sent multiple texts out and they never respond but she always sends pics but never will respond. That will be shown in these pictures as well. I have pictures between me and *** and me and *** * and then one of all 3 of us together! *** was told his gutters needed moved up because the water was flowing over the gutters and pouring on to the ground and causing flooding because its not going into the downspout and its pouring over the edge! But what we will do when they decide to respond is bring in a bigger window well, dig it deeper and fill inside and outside the window well with gravel. We will add some fill dirt next to concrete pad. Once they can confirm a date I said the week of the 16th but they said no so I asked if Tuesday the 24th would be good and have no heard back from them! Thanks for your time and please let me know where I can provide you with all of these pictures and video.Customer Answer

This has ABSOLUTELY NOT been resolved in anyway!!! I do NOT want this complaint closed or listed as answered. I spoke to ********* and was told the company had until Thursday (6/19/25) to respond. After that Attorney general would need to be involved. We have had NO resolution to the issues listed in my initial complaint.

We had Magic City Waterproofing come out and do some jobs for us. Garage waterproofing we are looking for proof the foundation had tar or plastic applied per the contract language. We’ve asked for proof with only a text message saying it was done. Basement window was installed and water leaks through one of them. Removed a broken basement window with dryer vent and replaced with concrete and new dryer vent. Dryer vent was installed too low and just about any kind of precipitation, ground water is leaking into the basement. The concrete block in the old window was all wet after a heavy rain and may have leaked water into a bathroom. I’ve been promised this would be fixed, frustrated with poor communication. Two different times we’ve scheduled a day to come over and they no-show. We just want this fixed before the weather gets bad/cold.Business Response

Good morning. I have talked with Mr. ******* multiple times! He said he was getting some siding redone which i told him needs done because water is running into his garage when it rains. He said his father in law dug down and seen no tar. One when you dig and start messing with our work, we void warranty and now he is trying to change his attitude. The window never leaked the water came through dryer vent when we had a hard rain and soaked everything around it. I told him while deck people were there that the dirt needs to be taken down its too high. They did not do that and now he is saying we put the dryer vent too low when it is the same exact height because any higher will hit the deck board attached to home and the deck builders said it would compromise the wood even if we could do that. I have asked Mr. multiple after rains any signs of water on window you were talking about he said no! Just want you to come out and answer a few questions. I have with my crew. So I have told my lawyers about this as well and working on a buy out. He is doing same thing with the deck builders that just did his deck while i was there at the same time. I have been to Mr. ******** house about 13 total times to "check this" "check that". Not including 4x before even getting the job! So this review is wild!!!Customer Answer

Mr ********** has not been to my home since late July/ early August with his crew. I have no issues with my deck builders, not sure what that’s about. I hired ***** **** to do all the work needed, why would I move dirt, that should be a contractors job in my opinion. And if ***** **** was alerted by my deck guys about dryer vent being in the way, we could’ve ran it through the crawl space ( in my opinion). The little digging around the garage wasn’t very deep, you can’t even see the pipes. All we wanted was pictures of the tar, not a very hard ask. As for dryer vent height we are just going to disagree as I know it was a few inches higher than where it was prior to moving. Even then I don’t know if that would fix issue. I even said in a text message we can be creative on a fix (like a solid pipe or better seal) so they wouldn’t have to do difficult drilling again. I have no intentions in hurting Magic City Waterproofing business or reputation . I feel they did an excellent job on most things. I just can’t stand poor communication or saying they will show up at my house, then you no call / no show. Always was told they were very “busy” but no excuse not to take 30 seconds to text or call me back. I feel like I’ve been patient.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I don't believe we damaged anything with the very light digging to the garage, all we asked for was pictures that I've yet to see. Contract says tar/plastic - North & East side of garage should have something like that. South side was above ground level, agreed with Mr ********* no need for plastic/tar.Leaky glass block window is a small leak and it's the one on the east side of the basement, not near the dryer vent - probably an easy fix?
Dryer vent installed in concrete block - we will agree to disagree on the height of the placement. (pictures not being accepted on this portal) I've suggested other suggestions instead of re-drilling.
Mr ********* or anyone from ***** **** has not been to my house since late July/early August - not sure what that statement means. No call/No showed Fri Sep 13, No show Fri Aug 23 but did apologize the following Monday because family was going on vacation.
If there were concerns about dirt / vent touching deck, etc - why wasn't the vent installed in a different spot, like crawl space? If we hire a contractor to install / fix something, why would I move the dirt around? If I remember correctly, there was an old concrete block ***** **** broke up to make room for this dryer vent.
There has only been 1 significant rain event since this was installed, that was the day Norton got 5" of rain (Thu 8/8) - that was the day all the water was seen. I have video of water in vent, picture of the wet/damp concrete wall.
Not sure why they keep mentioning the guys that installed the deck - I have no issues with them.
I will disagree with the number of times Magic City Waterproofing been to my house to "check this / check that" - not sure how that makes a difference on the issues here.
I'm not trying to damage/tarnish Magic City Waterproofing business. Overall, I think the business did a nice job, especially with the water proofing in the detached garage.
