    Took off work for an appointment and no call or show. Disappointing and upset with loss of pay from work

    In March 2023 I got estimates from 3 companies for a new patio door installation. Gold Star was #2 and came in at $3850. The owner, Jeremy Smith took the measurements. He told me my opening was 2 inches short on width to be the standard 80"x72". Basically it would cost double. I trusted him, he gave me no reason not to trust him which is the reason I had no problem giving him $3000 on March 27 to proceed with ordering the custom door in "off white" to match the rest of my house. On May 8, I was given approximately 5 minutes notice they could arrive to install my patio door. The old door was removed, the new (white) door was set in place and I could see immediately the door was too small for the opening. To make a long story short. My patio is the standard size 80" x 72". There was not much communication. I was not expecting them to wait a week to fix this for me. It caused much undo stress from security, insects, & rain. I began second guessing having GC finish the job. I am satisfied with the finished and installed patio door. But the way I was treated by the owner is unforgettable. I do not recommend Gold Star Construction for any work. They have plenty of jobs lined up and will do it all. Jeremy is not a very good communicator with customers when something goes wrong. He takes a lot of vacations and has many excuses why he is never wrong. All I wanted was my money back for an over payment. I finally received it on June 5.
    This rating is not against Roger or the guys that did the actual work on my door. The guys replaced a broken board on my wood deck out of the kindness of their heart. That was golden to me. This review is all on Jeremy Smith. He can do better.
