2 starsI just purchased 8 separate ****** Silver Dollar coins in the same auction. No problem with the bidding, but the shipping is outrageous!! ETBH insists on shipping each individual coin by itself, instead of, easily putting all 8 coins in one shipping package! As each shipping package costs $27.03 to ship, this process has added over $250 extra to my order. Called ETBH and their explanation was not that they wouldn't fit, but that this shipping process made them more efficient internally. So ETBH makes the customer pay out of their pockets to make ETBH internally efficient. I've been involved with numerous auction houses and they ALL make 1 shipping package for multiple coin purchases, never individual shipping packages for each purchased coin. This also seems to set me up for an increased chance of missing or damaged shipping packages since there are now 8 packages coming instead of just 1!!Review fromLorrie K

I have had to open another case regarding another piece of jewelry not as described. Stated sterling with quartz stone.
Made a case- had taken it to jeweler- stated not sterling and not quartz but cz
Took them a week to respond- sent to other msg in meantime as now my mother in law has passed and I don’t have time to run this item 40 minutes one way to their warehouse. And 40 minutes back.
Wanted written statement from my jeweler
Couldn’t provide without paying for an appraisal which makes sense- they don’t do that for free. So I am supposed to incur that cost even though a jeweler who is GIA certified has inspected it. She responded stating she could send mailing label. I say ok but it takes her to end of business to provide it. At this point I have to work and inability to drop it off but my husband ends up doing it. So now who knows how long it will take them.Everything But the House

1 starI have purchased from this site in the past. I recently won an item and it arrived broken. This item arrived 4/4. Right away I sent an email and photographed the item. I received a general response wanting a description and pictures from every angle. Sent them in and got a response saying it will be solved in 14 days. The 14 days passed and still nothing. I left a voicemail and sent an email. No response to either. This item cost ?? 197. I have never experienced such poor level of customer service. I don’t understand why it takes a month to issue a refund. I have worked in the customer service industry my whole life and this would be unacceptable in any situation.Review fromMichael M

I just had a similar situation with being out bid on an item at the last instant. EBTH clock when it goes from two minutes to one minute it takes twenty to twenty five seconds to start counting from sixty down to zero. Someone popped in before zero and beat me out. I know when there’s a new bid the clock goes back to five minutes. ( actually it goes back to almost five and a half minutes)Everything But the House

Good Afternoon, We appreciate you reaching out regarding the confusion surrounding our bid ending time. We understand our Director of Client Services contacted you to discuss the matter in more detail. The reason for the perceived delay is due to the minute marker interpretation. The 5-minute mark means the item is counting down from 5 minutes and 59 seconds to 5 minutes exactly. The 4-minute mark means the item is counting down from 4 minutes and 59 seconds to 4 minutes exactly. This continues to the 60-second mark. As you observed, there would be a delay at the 1-minute mark because the counter is decreasing from 1 minute 59 seconds to 1 minute exactly. Once that time has expired, the counter moves to 59 seconds, 58 seconds, 57 seconds, and so forth, and so on. We hope this clarification helps!Review fromKaty R

I’m 2 weeks “late” picking up a pink pillow for my daughter and have been charged 3x what I paid for it in “storage fees.” I’ve purchased from EBTH for years and have never had anything like this happen. The new way you are doing business is not ok. I’m so turned off and I hope others realize this before they start getting charged random storage fees WEEKLY! Bad business is BAD BUSINESS! You all are doing bad. You used to be so much better. It’s actually sad.Everything But the House

Good Morning ****,We appreciate the feedback and are sorry to hear your opinions on the storage fee policy. EBTH communicates a 7-day pickup window at the time of purchase. Then, we give another 7-day grace ******* After 14 days, a storage fee is charged weekly until the item is picked up.If you would like to call ****** Services and schedule a pickup for 10+ items or request an extension with a scheduled pickup date, we are happy to accomodate. We hope you continue to find value in all things uncommon!Review fromCheryl P

Bought a $70 silver ring and was sent a pladtic piece of garbage.
Notified EBTH and my credit card disputed the swapped item/purchase.
EbTH responded by pointing out that I agreed to buy the item "as is". I did NOT agree to buy a completely different, bogus item!!!
Will never-- and will make sure that others-- never do business with this scam company, EBTH.Everything But the House

Good Afternoon ****************,Upon receiving your complaint, we reviewed all communication regarding the purchase of ***********) Sterling Diamond Ring. On 12/6/2022 12:05 PM, you spoke with a ****** Services agent regarding the receipt of the ring. You explained the ring had been replaced with a different ring so EBTH offered to file a shipping claim with ****** At that time, you notified EBTH you had already filed a dispute with your credit card company. When a dispute is filed, the credit card company takes over mediation so ****** Services could be of no further help.I do not show a record of EBTH communicating that you bought the item as 'as is'. When customers take issue with our listing, we ask them to provide evidence and review it accordingly. If EBTH makes a mistake, we will own it. Best wishes.Review fromFrance E

Love, Love EBTH. I have lost count on how much money that I spent on This e-commerce website, well over $30,000.
If you’re looking to spin your wheels and spend countless hours at EBTH, look no farther than rigged auctions.
I won an item for $22.00. I stayed until the very end of the auction where it stated that I was the winner. Low and behold, I find out that I was outbid by $2.00 and lost the auction to another buyer by 3 minutes. There’s only one problem to the TIMELINE. Each New Bid extends the auction for five minutes. I even took photos of the transaction. What I wasn’t aware of is that now I have to take a snapshot of when I have won the item so that I don’t get outbid within 3 minutes.Everything But the House

Purchase # 1. I placed a bid on a pair of earrings and won the highest bidder at $21.00. I agreed to pay shipping bringing the total to $25.45. This would cover earrings and shipping. However, I was billed to My credit card a total of $54.45. Purchase# 2. I saw the very same earrings I had just placed a bid on for $21.00 at $6. Placed a bid on the second pair for $10.00. Again I agreed to pay $4.45 for shipping which would have been $14.45 for shipyard earrings. However, l was charged $54.45 for purchase 2. I will call then to see if I can speak to somebody and have them correct this but if they do not I will never buy from them again. Further I will report to BBB. This is outrageous! I will never buy anything from EBTH again.Everything But the House

Good Morning, We appreciate your willingness to discuss the shipping prices associated with the two purchases. We were able to review both invoices as well as all shipping quotes generated during the time of bidding. Unfortunately, we found zero results for shipping quotes tied to zip code *****. This indicates a shipping quote was not generated for the zip code during the auction time frame. We believe the amount you agreed to pay was the max bid of $21.00 plus the Everything Expedited Fee (3.5%). EBTH offers a number of payment types, each with varying degrees of immediacy. Using these payment types we can determine how quickly EBTH will have access to funds related to these payments and, by extension, how EBTH will prioritize necessary actions related to fulfillment of these items for our winning customers. In the instances where EBTH has near immediate access to funds, EBTH will prioritize fulfillment operations and add the service charge for the Everything Expedited Service. Payment methods this applies to include wire transfers, cashiers checks, credit cards and cash. In the instance where EBTH is required to wait for the payment to clear into our bank account such as an ACH payment EBTH will not provide the Everything Expedited Service or add the service charge to the buyer invoice. The shipping cost associated with each purchase was $25.91 and available for quote during the auction time frame. As a courtesy, we will refund the Everything Expedited Fee on each invoice. Please upload an ACH payment method if you choose to avoid this fee in the future. Best.Review fromAva S

Buyer beware. YOU CAN NOT RETRACT BIDS. After I bid on a supposed Native American piece after looking further (within 2 minutes) I noted that the supposed name marking on the back was unreadable and the name given as artist does not appear in any legitimate listing of artisans markings anywhere. The stones are fake and badly glued in. They are almost impossible to contact as the form to retract is not available within their terms on the page. The customer service is not 24/7. I have written them, I have emailed them I have contacted them via chat on fb. Finally I was able to call them and was told YOU CAN NOT RETRACT we said stones were fake. This piece is not a real piece and should I win it I stated I would not pay. I intend to take this to the attorney general of the ************* as I believe it is illegal not to allow bidders to withdraw bids. In addition to which they are guilty of misrepresentation of provenance.Everything But the House

Thank you for the feedback. We take customer satisfaction seriously and are glad to hear from you. We would like to apologize for the frustration you experienced in trying to retract a bid. We do ask our buyers to review the listing information prior to bidding as all bids are irrevocable offers to purchase an item and may not be withdrawn. This is outlined in our Terms and Conditions agreed to when creating an account. As stated at the time of your ****** Review, we were happy to edit your max bid but could not edit your current bid amount. After looking into the bid history, it is important to note that we show you did bid on the item two separate times with the intent of raising the price. In the end, however, we show you did not win the item.? With regards to contacting EBTH, we located the phone call at 10:13am on September 9, 2022 in which you spoke to our Client Services Representative on the first attempt to call. We apologize for the poor experience but appreciate the time you took to write the review.Review fromAlicia F

5 starsOnly good experiences this fat. Even had v a package not show up that due to my busy life went unnoticed for dinnertime. Reached out and got refunded no issues. Most people writing reviews on here just seem bitter.
