    Date transaction: March 28 2016
    Amount paid: $6200
Contract the business was to provide:
    remove old shingles
    replace any bad wood
    ice water guards
felt paper and lifetime dimensional shingles
    new ridge vent system
    lifetime labor

Nature of dispute: Roof started leaking three weeks ago. It was found that after multiple inspections that the shingles were not sealing correctly. It was evident at this point that our eight year old roof had to be replaced. Obviously, we did not want to use Superior, at that time we had no idea what a poor job they had done. As the shingles were torn off the roof by the new roofing company, it became apparent the Superior Products did not replace the bad wood eight years ago. Because the wood was rotten or damaged the shingles were not held down properly to seal. The new roofer had to replace thirteen 4 x 8 sheets of plywood (SEE FINAL NOTE ON NEW CONTRACT ATTACHED). It was also found that there was a broken rafter.

Whether the business tried to resolve the issue
We called John to let him know that the roof was leaking and based on the inspections that we
got we did not want him working on this project. We contacted the BBB to warn other people to be careful with this company. Their mishandling of our roof has led to a great financial burden on our family.

    Business Response

Let me respond by saying we have been in business since 1973
    - that is over 51 years. We have had a few BBB complaints over the years. Each
complaint had been addressed immediately, and resolved. We have maintained an
A+ rating over the years because of our business practices.

Going back over records it appears, Mr. *********, that we
put siding on your house in March of 2009.  We have notes that you were happy with the
work and contracted us to do your roof in March of 2016.

With that said, we would like point out some facts
concerning your current issue with your roof. Just to set the record straight,
we did not hear of any issues concerning your roof until after Helene hit Cincinnati. You gave John
Wilson a call indicating you had storm damage. He said he would call you to set
a time on Monday to come out and inspect. John Wilson called on Monday to
confirm a time to meet that day and you told him you had a doctor’s appointment
and you would call him back. You did in fact call him back and told him not to
come out and inspect your roof that you were going to take a different
route.  The next time you called him was approximately
at 11:35AM on Monday, October 21, 2024 to inform him that you had someone else
putting on a new roof and that the roof we put on 8 years ago did not have any
bad wood replaced per our contract. You than offered J*** to come out to
inspect, the only problem with that was the roof was well on it’s way to being
replaced by your new contractor. You than informed us by way of the Better
    Business Bureau today Tuesday,  October
22, 2024 that you want to be reimbursed for the total cost of your new roof you
had installed by another company, accusing us of faulty workmanship.

I think your request is totally out of line. You did not
give us an opportunity to inspect your roof and address your concerns.  If we had the opportunity to inspect, we
certainly would have taken care of any issue up to replacing your roof. You
quoted our contract giving you a Lifetime Warranty on Labor, and we stand
behind it 100%. With that said, not to be redundant, we have to have the
opportunity to address and see the situation first hand to determine what needs
to be done.  I think what you have done
is the equivalent of buying a ** Dishwasher, deciding it does not work, and replacing
it with a ******, without ** having the opportunity to service the machine.
Then you go and ask ** to pay for the new ****** dishwasher. Let me ask you a
question. What do you think **** Response would be? We don’t even have to go
    there.

With this said and done, I think your request is null-and-void.

    ID ********

Upon reviewing this situation, we should have had the original installing company out to honor their lifetime warranty.
This situation has been resolved to our satisfaction.

This complaint is being filed against Superior Products Exteriors, Inc. They completed a roof replacement in May of 2023 and have failed to correct issues reported the day the roof was replaced. The shingles were left too long and obstructed the gutters. Additionally, it was determined that they left a large amount of construction debris in the gutters. This has led to erosion of the yard. I am seeking the roof to be fixed and all damage to the yard to be repaired. The company has been contacted on multiple occasions and has not yet responded.
