    On 9//2/22, II purchased 4 *** **** post terminal batteries to replace the original batteries for my ***** riding mower. The total cost was $717.90. I got home and realized they were not the right type. On 9/3/24, I exchanged those batteries and purchased the correct ones for an additional $341.52, bringing the final cost to $1091.96.

    The original batteries lasted 4 seasons. The replacement batteries lasted only 1 season. When I tried to cut my grass in March 2024, the batteries would only hold a charge for 30 minutes.

    I visited Batteries plus Bulbs on 3/29/24 and was told that there was nothing they would do as the batteries have only a one year warranty. This information was never provided to me when I purchased the batteries. The sales rep suggested I contact ******** to see if they would provide a remedy.

    I called ******** customer service and was told that the “********” batteries I had purchased from Batteries plus Bulbs were not actually ******** batteries - that Batteries plus Bulbs had purchased branding rights to use the ******** name on any battery they sold.

    I am frustrated because:

    - I only used the mower in September of 2022 and from April thru September of 2023. That is less than one year of total usage.

    - My expectation, from previous experience, was that these batteries would last as long as the original batteries.

    - I was shocked that the ******** batteries I paid a premium for were, in fact, not actually produced by ********.

    - I was not informed that the warranty was much shorter than similar lawn equipment batteries.

    I have attached the receipts.

    I am filing this complaint against both Batteries plus Bulbs and********

    When the customer first came in they did not have the batteries for us to test, which is part of our warranty procedures.  and the store staff could have certainly done a better job in explaining this to them, and offering options to proceed.  we will be working on this internally to make sure the store staff is more prepared to correctly take care of this type of issue.

     

    When we were made aware of this complaint we contacted the customer by phone and asked them to bring in the batteries in question and we would both test, to make sure they isn't an external issue, but also offered a cash back refund.  hopefully this will solve this, and satisfy the customers need.
