      On dec.21 lusain funeral home @2455 Stanley ave dayton oh. Picked up my mother's body from ******* ** ******. On the 22nd. I paid 1899.00 for complete cremation and funeral. I changed my mind because the funeral home was not acceptable ie dirty walls, nasty seating area. So I had her moved to ********* funeral home. I was told by one person on the phone that the 1000.00 for funeral and services was completely refundable but not the 899.00 for funeral director fees. Which i understand. So when I went to get my refund expecting 1000.00, I only received 576.00. I just think this is wrong and I feel that I'm still due a refund.

      The refund amount changed because ******** did not originate and file the death certificate. In addition to completely handing the death certificate filing, we supplied the family with the death certificate, which is why our name is on the death certificate and not **********.

      Here is an overview of how we arrived at the refund amount:

      Original Bill:  $1899
      Transportation of Loved One -$400
      Basic Services of Funeral Director and Staff for DC Filing- $898
      Cost of Death Certificate - $25
      Refund Amount - $576

      The origination, processing, and filing of the death certificate is not a simple process. There are many steps from meeting with the family, scheduling the doctor's signature, and filing it with the health department. These are just some of the basic services of the funeral home. Had the family's new funeral home performed these services, then we could have avoided charging them this fee.
