I brought in a Dodge key to be programmed and was told that it was $100 for 1 key and $130 for 2 keys. I had my original key with me that had stopped working after being left in my husband’s pocket while swimming. I had just replaced the battery in the fob trying to get it to work, but it did not. They tried fixing it and replaced the battery again (old battery tested good). The fob worked while there, but when I tried to use it the next day it was completely dead again. I called and was told that I need to speak with the person who did it. I left my name and # for a callback. 3 days later, after not receiving a response I stopped in and was told to leave my name and # again. A couple days later I received a call, but it was them calling about someone else’s keys, when I asked then about my situation I was again told that I would receive a callback. I stopped back in today (2 weeks later - this happened 7/13/23) and first was told that I was only charged for one key (he wouldn’t have charged me for two) when I showed him the receipt he called the person who did the work and said that since he put a battery in my original fob I would be charged for the battery. So essentially I paid $30 for a battery that is the same as the one that I purchased at Walmart in a 2 pk for $8. I believe that I should be refunded something from this.

    Business Response

I apologize for the late response, and after reviewing we did in fact over charge you by accident. We programmed 1 key for you which is $100.00+tax (107.80). If I remember rite we had to install a battery in the new key fob you brought in for us to be able to program it. We charge $10.00+tax (10.78) per battery installed. We also installed a battery in your original key fob, the battery I pulled out of that fob did test bad, I would not have replaced a good battery. With the new battery your original fob was working properly when you left. I even asked 1 or 2 times before we took payment if you wanted to keep our battery in your original fob or wanted us to remove it and you said keep it in there. With that said 1 fob programmed and 2 batteries is $120.00 + tax (129.36), so yes we overcharged you by $0.64 and I apologize for that. I can't refund for a battery that was installed in a defective fob, especially since I double checked with you before you paid wether you wanted to keep it or not. As far as the back and forth, I have no explanation for that other than we've been busy and need to get better about responding. If you would like to stop in I will be more than happy to refund your .64 cents we over charged you. If you have any other questions please feel free to call us and ask for *****

#1 The battery was installed after I had just purchased brand new batteries and put in the fob.
#2. I was never asked or double checked with about anything. I was informed that it would be $100 for 1 fob programmed and $130 for 2 fobs programmed. That’s the extent of any talk of payment…in which tax was NOT charged.

#3. I was charged $130 and was told that was because they looked at my original fob. If I had known that I would be charged anyway, I would have purchased a second fob.
#4 I was charged a flat $130. No tax was listed or charged. Maybe this is another issue for the IRS?
