  May 2, 2024 RE: G & R Plumbing To whom it May Concern. On Tuesday April 30, 2024, my 81-year-old father had G & R Plumbing *** ****** **** Cincinnati OH 45245 make a residential call to his home to install a standard dryer vent hose. My father provided all the clamps needed for the installation and G & R supplied the standard hose. The installation took approximately 20 minutes of time. They then proceeded to charge him $519.00 for the job, which was not technical, or timely to perform. It was an ordinary installation and one of the quickest, easiest tasks for a plumber to perform. When my father told me about this. I immediately felt that it was a case of senior citizen exploitation and ethically deceptive and unfair practices. Upon further investigation of the reviews on G & R Plumbing’s site. I found a pattern of complaints of this business over charging and specifically over charging senior citizens for services. I then researched what a typical charge should be for this service, and I have found a range between $80.00-$200.00, which is significantly lower than what my father paid. Unfortunately, many seniors are on fixed incomes, like my father and are easy prey to this deceptive practice. My father is more than happy to pay a fair fee for services rendered, but this fee is way outside the scope of fair or reasonable. As such, I am filing a complaint with the BBB against G & R Plumbing on behalf of my 81-year-old father . I am respectfully requesting that the BBB review this complaint and the history of complaints against this business. I am hopeful to find a fair resolution to my father’s issue.   First of all, we would like to thank your father, **** for being our customer and giving us the chance to serve his plumbing need. At no point during the duration of this service call did *** express any negativity towards us or what was happening, including the price. If he, as the client in question, has any concerns, we highly encourage him to reach out to us directly through a phone call and we’d be happy to help him in any way we can. Please also take some time to review the invoice. *** was given our best value rate price for this work, no questions asked, as he is a senior citizen. He was given a nearly 25% discount on the standard rate. Considering we advertise that we only give seniors a 10% discount, *** was provided with a very favorable rate. We’ve been in business for 40 years. If what you claim is true, we wouldn’t have stood the test of time and have a 98.5% client satisfaction rate. Unfortunately, we can’t please everybody, as we are only human. I would once again like to thank *** for his business, and I hope you all have a great day!

  In the summer of 2023, I contacted
  G and R Plumbing to replace the drain pipe in my kitchen sink. I had previously had the company to replace some galvanized pipes years ago, and was satisfied with the work done, so I kept their information for future use. Adam showed up and completed the work, as well as clearing the drain line. All work performed was at a cost of $1016, with the drain pipe costing at around $300.00. Forward to February 2024, the drain pipe, (which was new), commenced to leaking in the same exact spot. I called G and R Plumbing and Adam agreed to come see about it. I asked Adam if there was an additional charge for this service call, and he told me yes. Anything over 30 days it would be a charge. Ok, if this is their policy, it is their policy, but if there is a leak in the EXACT spot, it should be checked out and repaired in good faith. I will not pay someone twice for the same job. Now let me note, Adam was very professional, this is not about him at all. I just feel that I should not have to pay for a repair that obviously not repaired, in order to have a leak in the EXACT area of the first leak..

  Thank you for your business and giving us the chance to help you with your plumbing needs. Considering the existing plumbing drains in the area you are referring to were, at the time the work was performed, old and in poor condition, a 30 day warranty is all we can offer our customers. This is because we have no way to warranty tying into existing old plumbing drain pipe, as this issue was present at the time of the point repair. We as licensed plumbers always choose to educate our clients on every issue that needs addressed, but we cant force the client to accept our entire recommendation. If we were only given approval for a point repair, thats all we can do for you. The plumber that came over to your house thoroughly explained multiple plumbing issues you had, but you chose to only fix one or two of them. We also cant confirm if the leak is in the new section that was replaced if we are never given the chance to return to your house to see exactly where the problem is. We are a small family business and there are costs associated with just getting to the jobsite, so there will be a charge if the warranty has expired. Please also take some time to review your invoice, as you were given value rate discount pricing on all services we provided, considering you were a repeat customer from a few years ago.   The plumber did a fine job replacing the kitchen faucet with one purchased by me and replaced the disposal. However the final price was outrageous!! Almost $1300 for hour and a half of work. Do not recommend if you value your hard earned money. I should have done my homework and read the reviews before calling. When he couldn't give me a ball park estimate should have been a red flag. BEWARE!!!! Trying to go local isn't always the best choice.

  *******, You were given a cost of exactly how much the work would be before we did anything for you. You agreed to the price, so we performed the work. This is the first we are hearing that you weren't satisfied. You were very pleasant to work with in person and gave no indications that you were uncomfortable or unhappy with anything that we did. We do not have an hourly rate charge, as we have a flat-rate pricing structure. We know our prices are competitive to other licensed **** Plumbing Contractors in our area. If you are trying to compare our prices to if you did the work yourself or to companies in the area that are not licensed **** Plumbing Contractors, then those companies do not hold the required licensing to be a professional plumbing company. Please also take some time to review your invoice, as you were given the value rate pricing and saved more than we advertise vs the standard rate pricing.
