I have attached the customer's signed credit card authorization form, lease agreements and their pay history. We have not received a payment since 4/21/25 because despite our efforts to collect payment, the customer's card has declined each time and money has been collected so there is certainly no money owed back to the customer. The signed authorization form gives us permission to run the card for payment when money is owed. Our customers are also required to provide references with phone numbers which we are permitted to contact those people in any effort to collect either payment or our merchandise. The customer is almost 60 days past due and we would like payment to be made or our merchandise to be returned immediately.Customer Answer

I have been leasing from UHR since 2023 and have always made sure payments were made no matter what. This past July I had to have knee surgery and couldn't walk or work for months, I was under the impression that my account would be put on hold while I was off work until I was able to return to work. Then they stated after I had been off for 2 months that If I did not make a payment, they were going to come take my stuff. This was not the original agreement we had. Since September I have just been paying apparently just towards late fees I had accrued while I was off. Today I received a message saying that if I did not pay $600 they were going to come take everything. I felt as if I had no choice but to return to work before I physically could just so I wouldn't lose the only furniture my kids have. This feels like down right harassment and discrimination and feel as if I am being targeted.Business Response

The customer had her surgery in July 2024 and we were more than happy to accommodate her and deferring her account while she recovered. She started making payments again but was consistently falling behind and when she became upset, she claims that her daughter-in-law filed the complaint with BBB. Right after this was filed, the customer came to the store and made large payment to get her account caught up and current so everything is settled on our end.Initial Complaint

We received a message on Saturday 5/3/25 stating we owed $331.91 and that paying that would make our account due and would also pay off one of our items, a PC gaming computer. I told them I could pay $200 and then the rest later which they stated was fine. They messaged me today saying that we are 19 days past due and they are going to come pick up our stuff that we have been paying on if we did not make a payment of $301.64 which is a single payment that they are starting is 3 weeks worth of payments on the computer, which 5 days prior we were told we owed $331 that would be paying off our computer and paying towards the couch we are leasing from them. They are lying about how much we owe and just seeking more and more from us. They are not telling us what our money is going towards either. I feel as if I am being harrased and like they are just trying to steal from me.Business Response

The customer was continuously making partial and late payments so the deferment payments and late fees eventually accrued to a large amount. We explained to the customer how the payments are applied and what happens when partial and late payments are applied. We spoke with this customer's husband who is the actual account holder and he agreed that he understood that the monies are actually owed.Initial Complaint

Attached is the signed customer's signed lease agreement and her pay history. The customer leased the *** on 10/8/24 and paid for a full week and one week later on 10/15/24, the laptop was returned. She had the *** for all 7 days she had paid for so no refund was owed. Our lease agreements also clearly state that we do not offer refunds and her week's payment of $52.20 is less than the $60.00 refund she is requesting. The customer is not owed any money and UHR has the *** back in their possession.Initial Complaint

The bank suggested i notify the BBB and ******** ******* office which i have now did both. I was informed from the bank this type of action is Highly agianst the Law reguardless if I owe a payment or even behind a few payments a business simply can not continously try and charge a bank card they said it is Fraud.Business Response

The manager and the customer did have an agreement for the customer to pay, however the customer is set up on our automatic payment program, which I have attached the signed authorization form. The manager input in our system that the customer had made a commitment to pay on a different day but the system glitched and tried to run the auto payment on it's own. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused, however we could have easily explained this if he had just reached out to either the store manager or the corporate office.Initial Complaint

First of all I'm being overcharged I should have already had my bike paid off I've had an e-bike from them and I paid on it they were supposed to make repairs to the bike and told and me and lied to me saying that they put a new motor on when they didn't the bike goes slower now and doesn't keep energy at all there's no way and I was in it's the same wheel everything that was already on there they're lying to me they have been taking they took extra money out of my check when I did not even sign up for auto pay and they're trying to hold me responsible for a bike that belongs to my ex I'm paying for my bike my ex got a bike and they're trying they bullied me into signing a new contract just so I can get my bike back from them having it for 5 months supposedly repairing it but they didn't repair it they're nothing but liars and thieves and they think that they've got one over on me because I have mental problems I feel that they are taking from innocent people and they're taking advantage of me and I need someone to help me stand up for myself because this is not fair and lying about repairs that they made they did not make any repairs to that bike all they did was put the wheel back on and they kept my bike for 5 months. I'm tired of all the lies I've asked for paper documentation and they're not giving it to me and all they care about is covering their own ass it's not my fault that me and my ex are not together and they're trying to hold me responsible for a bike that I don't even have and taking money out of my social security check that is not for them to do unless I sign up for auto pay and I never did these people are very very unprofessional and thieves skimming off the top so they can make more money that's pathetic.Business Response

I have attached the signed credit card authorization form, receipt, and lease agreements. The authorization form clearly states that we have permission to process the credit card for payment on the indicated due date. The bike that was in need of repair had damages caused by the customer and we repaired the bike at no extra cost. The customer is in possession of both bikes and as a the co-signer on the agreement, she is just a liable for payments owed.Initial Complaint

Applied for a loan through this company and received an email from ****** that only listed items that needed to be submitted. She didn’t include any other context or contact info in the email. The only way I knew that was from this company is because I clicked on the sender info and saw it was from their company. I then received a vm asking me to call them. I called and spoke with someone that told me wasn’t approved. I thanked her and ended the call. The following day I received a vm from ****** again asking me to call. When I spoke to her, she told me that I needed to submit pay stubs, bank statements and my bill. So, it doesn’t appear that the office workers collaborate on which accounts they work on, since one told me I wasn’t approved, and one is asking for documentation. I submitted all requested documents and then received a call from ****** stating that the bank statements didn’t show withdrawal details. I tried to help her understand how to read bank statements, as it appears that she wasn’t comprehending when I informed her that she needed to scroll down to see all transactions. She proceeded to over talk me when trying to help her. This company should not be operating under the unorganized manner they display. I should have known better than to even attempt business with them after reading the horrible reviews and complaints on social media. Bad for business!Business Response

This
lady and her partner have been customers at UHR since April of 2009. They have both signed for multiple deliveries
and returns and each have made payments on items leased from us. Over the last several months we have had to reach
out because they have stopped making payments on items they have on lease from
us. They have also refused to return our
merchandise, taking their customer status from excellent down to “skip/stolen,
high risk”. They will neither pay for
these items nor return them to us. In
addressing the statement that we have created false accounts in their names, she
is incorrect. We had to do one order
form for each of them as her partner was the main account holder. We had to do an order form for her as well as she
is listed as a co-signer. She was provided
a copy of that order form, upon which she became angry and caused a scene in
the store and was politely asked to leave multiple times. Additionally, payments were made to their
accounts with the authorization provided through text message where the
customer provided credit card information to be used. Afterwards these payments were disputed with
their credit card company in order to avoid having to make their payment. Per company standards, we have called them
daily, leaving a voicemail message, “This is UHR calling in regards to your
past due account. Please call us back.” These customers have changed their phone
numbers several times since they stopped payment on our merchandise. Visits to their home have proved unsuccessful
as well in attempting to collect from themInitial Complaint

I sat the furniture and things I was renting outside because I was not going to be home. I assumed they were coming because of previous conversations with them. I came home and everything was gone. Checked my camera and 2 gentlemen in a box truck came and removed it all. I contacted uhr to make sure it was them and they said no. They keep coming to residence I was previously at and demanding the stuff. I do not have it as it was picked up and I do not know who picked up or anything. They still to this day continue to harass my ex for the stuff. No one has their stuff. They have even went to the extent to contacting me on Facebook messenger to demand the stuff that I do not have along with trying to friend’s request me. This is beyond harassment. This store is in eastgate ohioBusiness Response

The customer is responsible to ensure the product is returned in good, working condition so if she set it outside where anyone could come and take it, she is liable for that along with damage that could possibly be caused by the product sitting outside. The customer also has a ring camera and says she has a video of two men in a box truck coming to pick up the merchandise but refuses to show UHR the video. There is no law against us reaching out via ********, as we do with all of our customers and this customer is clearly stealing so we are just trying to recover our merchdanise and/or monies owed.Customer Answer

So there for the us no video and I clearly am not stealing your junky furniture or anything else that you say I have. Trust me I would not want to keep anything as the items you rented us were damaged.I assume I am just going to have to contact the law for a restraining order

I would like to request compensation consideration based on my recent experience. I placed a reservation over a week ago for a rental 20’ for Saturday morning move. I woke up in morning to find a email sent the before after 7pm telling me my order was canceled. When i called i was on phone for approximately an hour while rep tried to find me a truck repeatedly saying they had none in area. Finally she was able to find a smaller truck 15’ although it required a 45min drive to pick up and another 45min to drop off. Not to mention the miles and gas involved and extra time i then needed to pay our helpers based on all this. Well i started to head to Hodgkins location and figured I should call to confirm the new reservation and when i did the rep said i had no reservation and he had no trucks. So again i gad to pull over and call again. Another 30min call to find out that location did have a truck. When all was done it worked out. But if a reservation is placed in advance it should be honored. Or at least a better notification other than the night before the move. I use U-Haul whenever i need a truck and this is a first for me having to drive all around and make so many calls.Business Response

We are a rent to own company based out of Cincinnati that only leases furniture, appliances and electronics locally. The customer needs to find the correct company and file a complaint but on behalf of UHR Rents, I request this complaint against us be removed.Customer Answer
