    On Sunday, 5/19/2024, the tempered glass in our shower wall spontaneously exploded. The tempered glass shot out like shrapnel, putting nicks in our tile and the shower floor. The glass and tile was installed in January 2022. Showers Plus More said they will replace the glass, but I have to pay for installation and cost of tile repairs.

    When I received a call from **** *****, she began to tell me that one of pieces of glass in her master shower exploded.  I told her that I was sorry to hear that and that we can come out and replace it because here at showers plus more we offer a life time on the glass we install. I also told ***** that we don’t offer lifetime labor so there would be a labor charge to do the work. We originally installed her shower glass over 2 years ago. I don’t know how the shower glass broke. Nor could we be responsible for any damages it may have caused .

    The explosion of the tempered glass was caused either by impurities in the manufacturing of the glass, OR it was installed incorrectly.   Since ***** is providing replacement glass, my husband/I paid for the replacement of the damaged tiles, I think Showers Plus More should step up and supply the installation of the glass (and possibly have ***** reimburse you).

    THEIR ARE SO MANY MORE REASONS HOW SHOWER GLASS COULD BREAK. LETS LOOK AT SOME,

    1) CHANGE IN THE TEMPERATURE,(CHANGE IN SEASONS) PUTTING STRESS ON THE GLASS WITH WALLS  AND FLOOR MOVING

    2) HOUSES THAT SETTLE OVER TIME

    3) MIS USE OF SHOWER GLASS

    4) SOMEONE FALLING OR STUMBLING IN TO THE GLASS CAN PUT STRESS ON THE GLASS.

    I'M NOT SAYING ANY OF THESE THINGS HAPPENED. I'M JUST SAYING , WE HERE AT SHOWERS PLUS MORE DO NOT KNOW HOW THE GLASS BROKE. 

    AND TO SAY IT WAS THE HOME OWNER FAULT, THE TILE GUYS FAULT, THE BULDER OF THE HOUSE FAULT, THE MANUFACTURES FAULT, THE INSTALLERS FAULT.

     

    THE GLASS WAS MANUFACTURED AND INSTALLED OVER 2 YEARS AGO.

    SO WHAT HAPPENED?  WE FRANKLY JUST DON'T KNOW. 

    SO WITH THAT BEING SAID, HERE IS OUR WARRANTY.

    The business, Showers Plus More, is finally responding 3 months after our shower glass exploded.  When I tried to reach someone at the company a couple of months ago, no one responded.  Since that time, we have had to purchase new glass and have it installed by another company.  Delivering the piece of glass to us now is way too late.

    After at least 2 months of waiting on a response from the installer, and not having our shower to use, my husband and I bought new shower glass and had someone else come and install it.  Unless the first installer reimburses us for our costs, there is nothing more that can be done.

     I called the homeowner the next day after they emailed me. letting them know I was sorry to here their glass got broke. I begain to tell her that here at showers plus more we offer lifetime glass but not lifetime labor.  So I told her the glass will be free but,  there will be a labor charge for clean up or to install new pc of glass. the customer did not think that was right so she rejected our offer. I don't know how the glass broke. did someone hit it? did someone fall into it a few day piror to the glass breaking? Any one of these things could have happened. we installed the original glass 2 1/2 years ago and has been fine. what happen?  

     we offered the homeowner the replacment glass for free. they choose to go a different route and call another glass company.

    Not sure what more I could have done.

    The business, Showers Plus More, did not respond until three months after our shower glass spontaneously shattered. There was no explanation provided regarding whether the breakage was due to a manufacturing defect or improper installation.  I contacted Showers Plus More the day after the incident but received no follow-up or communication. Because we were left without a functioning shower, we had no choice but to purchase new glass and have it installed by another company.  Only three months later did Showers Plus More finally respond, offering to drop off a replacement piece of glass. By that time, we had already incurred the cost of replacement and installation.
    At this point, we are requesting reimbursement for half the cost of the new glass and installation, which we believe is fair under the circumstances.

    ***** ***** contacted me by email on 5/19/24  (2 years and 4 months after we installed her shower glass)and I texted her back 5/20 letting her know I was sorry to here that her glass was broke. I told her it was a good thing she want with us becuase we offer lifetime glass.  I also explained to ***** ***** glass would be replaced but labor is not lifetime and their would be a labor charge for replacing the glass. I even called the glass company,  and the presdent himself called and talked with her. telling her glass would be replaced. If **** ***** decided to go with another company to replair her shower glass that is her choice and feel we have no more committment to this matter. THANK YOU
