DISCRIMINATIN - HIGH ALERT: DO NOT MOVE TO THIS BUILDING IF YOU ARE A TRUE BLACK PROFESSIONAL LOOKING FOR QUALITY HOUSING. This management company will cater to everyone and anyone except the YOU! I chose to move to the Shoreline November 2022 because of the beautiful view of Lake Erie. This has been the worst decision of my life, living under a bridge on a deserted island would be easier than to put up with the constant discrimination I now face living here day to day. I along with the two other tenants that live with me who are also black have complained multiple times to the office regarding cigarette smoke in the apartment, and no running water. I was inconvenienced by a broken washing machine for a week and was told to simply use the filthy community washroom to launder my clothes while management took their sweet time bringing a new machine to my apartment. I am not a pig, so I took my clothes to a decent laundromat. The cigarette smoke and water problems are now issues that occur every month. Now, I have not had air conditioning since midnight 8/6/2023 even after in-house maintenance and two additional outside HVAC technicians came to the apartment. My air conditioner only puts out warm air increasing the temperature in the apartment and my electric bill. So now the air conditioner is off. My windows are bolted shut and I have no access to any ventilation. It is about 75 degrees at night and in the 80s and 90s during the day. I have attempted to break my lease and was told I would have to pay the company rent until they find a tenant even if I gave proper notice. I cannot afford to beak my lease so, essentially, Susan, the property manager has found a way to practice discrimination towards tenants and run a sham of property management company all the while keeping her job secure and getting whatever kickbacks she receives, because who else engages in behavior like this besides a slum lord or criminal.
