    On August 5th, 2022, I made a call to Mikey Lock and Key Cleveland and spoke to “Ben” about removing an existing key lock from a wooden door and replacing it with a keypad lock for my rental property. He quoted me a price of $200 and we agreed on 4pm that day. At 4:46 Ben finally arrived, and I spoke to him to confirm what I wanted done. I was told it would be an additional $200 to drill a hole in the wooden door. I asked why he couldn’t use the existing hole that was there but really couldn’t understand him due to his heavy accent. I told him to proceed with the work. Shortly after that, I spoke to Ben who said the lock would work better with a key. I told him the purpose of getting a lock with a keypad was to not have to use a key. He assured me that everything would work fine, and the job was done. He said the code was 1,2,3,4, which I asked him to change to a different code. He said he had to go back to his shop to get something to change the code. As I was paying him, my tenant sent me some pictures of the work that he had just finished. I was horrified to see the door frame damaged and giant hole in the frame of my beautiful wooden door! He didn’t even put the strike plate in where it is supposed to go. I called him to ask why the hole was so large and the frame of the door was damaged? He started yelling at me and said the job was done. I told him the keypad light was not even on or working. He yelled back stating that it was, and he was going to call the police and his attorney on me. He also stated that he knew I would be “one of these kind of customers”. I hung up the phone and realized I had just been scammed. Ben never came back to recode the keypad or never made any effort to make things right. He said the lock was covered for a year warranty, but the keypad is not working. I requested directions on how to change the lock, and he offered to send me a YouTube video which I never received. I don’t even have the box to tell what model the lock is.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 17693135, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

    The fact that the business doesn't want to respond or have anything to say, tells it all. I will be taking further action.
