I took my dog in because she was throwing up blood and ****** diarrhea. There was significant amount of blood in her vomit and it was all blood in her diarrhea. The vet asked how much blood was in her vomit, was it specs of blood? I told her it was a lot of blood. She kept referring that it was specs of blood and I kept telling her that it was a lot of blood. Until my dog vomited in their care did she refer to what I had told her that it was a lot of blood. They decided to do an POCUS ultrasound to access for free fluid in her abdomen but it was not successful due to my dogs thick coat. I do not know why they did not shave the area to get a diagnosis. I ask if they could take an x-ray and the doctor said they would probably not see anything. I ask if they could give fluids, they also said they would, but didn't. They sent her home with blood dripping all over the place. I took her to my regular vet 30 hours later and within 30 minutes he had a diagnosis because he did an x-ray. She had a foreign object in her stomach. She stay 2 nights at the vet until the object passed. I will never take my dog there again.

Is there a way to give zero stars ? My beautiful dog had TPLO surgery at *** last November . She has been having nothing but problems with the leg since the surgery. Unfortunately we are scheduled for an amputation at another vet next week . She had another TPLO surgery on her other leg in the spring, at another vet, and we have had no problems with that leg. I had a meeting at **** State to try to find out how we got here, one week away from amputation. Of course, they said they made no mistakes, start to finish, and it was just our dog . I begged to differ, stating that the proof is in my backyard, where the *** leg can no longer hold any weight , and can only be amputated at this point . To put the icing on the cake, there wasnt even a doctor present in the meeting to speak about what happened, or to answer any questions. They should absolutely be ashamed about that . I can only pray that if you are considering a TPLO surgery at **** State, you choose another vet . You will not only save your pet from this devastating situation as well as your $8000. Unbelievable that people who claim that animals are everything to them , actually treat them as if they are just another number and another dollar in their pockets .

They did a fantastic job with my dogs two surgeries. However, my dog had his first surgery in January 2024 on his right leg and his follow up was on 3/4. Then he was schedule for the surgery on 3/5 for his left leg. Only the Vet put all the charges from 3/4 and 3/5 on one visit which is NOT true. We have insurance on him and the insurance company will cover any costs associated with the right leg but will not cover anything with the left leg. So the follow up visit for his right leg, sedation and X-rays from 3/4 should be on one invoice. Our insurance company as well as us, have tried to get this resolved as this could be an additional $500 in my pocket. We are now going on month 3 trying to get this resolved. It is very frustrating and we are considering having my uncle who is an attorney get involved.

Thank you for reaching out about your problems with the billing for Charlie's appointment and surgery. I am so sorry that you've had such a difficult time receiving assistance and timely communication. I have reached out to the insurance company and provided them with the updated invoices that should resolve the problem so that you can be reimbursed soon. I provided them with my direct contact information so that if there are any further questions or if they require additional supporting documentation, they can reach out to me and I will work with them to provide whatever they need to help get this claim resolved.

    Thank you for your patience.

As a member of the vet community and OSU grad, I have always held OSUVMC in very high esteem. When my own pet needed emergency care in November, I didn’t hesitate to take her to OSU. Sadly, the experience was anything but supportive. My dog ended up being in the ICU for 3 days during which time I was refused visitation rights. From the moment we brought her in the door of the ER, we never once saw even a photo of her until we picked her up. I understand OSU is where you go for top level care, but even after pushing for alternative treatments and voicing financial concerns, I was refused any paired down version of care because it was hospital policy to only do it one way. After 3 days of refusing visitation and several thousands in treatments, I elected to pick up my dog to take her somewhere else for second opinion. After evaluation at another clinic, she was given the green light for safe treatment at home, when OSU wanted to keep her in the ICU for 2 more weeks. At the time of pickup, we had a credit on our account for around $1400. The staff told me it is hospital policy to refund all clients via physical check in the mail and it would take 5-6 weeks to arrive. I was shocked by this as I’ve worked for several specialists and ERs who were able to refund via card within normal timelines. We also were not finished with treatment and $1400, at this point, could have made a huge difference in whether we would be able to continue treatment. This happened on November 30th. It is now February and I have yet to receive any communication or refund from OSU. I have attempted to call their accounting department every day for the last 2 weeks and am met with a voicemail each time, to which you never receive a call back. I have also emailed without response. 9 weeks have gone by and I cannot get a single person on the phone or even email to ask about the status of my refund. I will soon be seeking legal counsel on how to assist in receiving my funds.
