Today, we spoke with ***** from Westinghouse. We have reached a new agreement on how to resolve the problem. Due to the more unique situation of my wife and I living in an RV full time and the need for a generator, Westinghouse has agreed to pay for the repairs and reimburse us for the purchased generator. This allows us to purchase a new generator more expediently. nnot return the generator. It’s unfathomable to have this sort of customer service. A brand new generator that won’t start, and they cannot even help us out. It has been two months of reaching back and forth with them. What a waste of money.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because it has not yet been resolved. I am attaching pictures of the damage to the unit as well as pictures of the damaged box on the day it arrived. I contacted the company via phone immediately upon receiving the replacement unit and was prompted to leave a voicemail. I left at least two voicemails and did not hear back. I also went on their website to submit an email submission and then finally emailed within the previous email thread that was used to communicate regarding the issue. Last time I contacted the business about the first issue (before the first exchange), it took a long time to get any sort of response. The original case number was SC387611 and the updated case number appears to be SC164133. I would like to keep the case open until the replacement unit has been shipped out.

I would like to accept the factory tested replacement, considering it was not only the muffler, 1st, it was the pull to start cord, then the choke lever fell off, then it was the muffler. Alternatively, if the customer prefers, we can replace the unit with a factory-tested generator to ensure optimal performance before shipping.

I am rejecting this response because: the shop has confirmed to Westinghouse the generator was still running very bad when I went on 05/02/2025. I have lots of email communication confirming I brought the unit to the shop of their choice and got it there in the timeframe they allowed. This unit has extremely low hours and they shouldnt be abusing customers by trying to force a customer to keep a lemon unit with less than 30 hours of use. I will be happy to provide ******* videos of how bad this machine is running.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint.
The customer purchased the ******************************** generator on August 3, 2021, and the unit was covered under a 3-year limited residential warranty, which expired on June 21, 2024.
Despite the warranty being expired, Westinghouse continued to assist the customer as a courtesy and made every reasonable effort to help resolve the concerns:
The customer was directed to an authorized service center (Teels Maintenance & Supply **** and advised that warrantable parts would still be covered. Additionally, we offered to reimburse up to one hour of diagnostic labor ($100 value) as a gesture of goodwill.
On multiple occasions, including March 4 and March 6, 2025, we worked closely with the customer and ensured the unit was properly checked in for diagnosis. Once diagnosed, we supplied the necessary replacement alternator and ignition coils, at no cost.
On May 9, 2025, the service center confirmed that the generator was repaired, fully operational, and producing power as expected.
As one final courtesy, Westinghouse also provided a replacement carburetor, even though the unit was already out of warranty.
We also provided the customer with a link to our limited warranty policy for full reference and transparency. Portable_Generator_Warranty.pdf
In total, Westinghouse has provided over $825 worth of parts and labor support, well beyond our standard policy. At this time, there is no indication of a manufacturing defect, and the generator is confirmed to be functioning as designed.
While we empathize with the customers frustration, we believe weve more than fulfilled our obligations and in fact extended support far beyond the warrantys expiration. We consider this matter resolved and will not be providing further assistance.

You have been forwarded the entire email thread showing Westinghouse knew about the issue during the warranty. Westinghouse did not offer a service center in my local area. The nearest service center was over an hour and a half away and could not take the machine in a timely manner. I maintained communication with Westinghouse and the generator was brought into the service center of their choosing within the allotted amount of time, and Westinghouse was sent proof of delivery within that amount of time. Westinghouse offered no assistance in getting the generator repaired or transported in a timely manner and it was very difficult to transport this machine as it weighs over 350 pounds and must be moved by trailer.Customer Answer

Once the unit is diagnosed and you have a paper copy of the invoice for repair you can send it to us and we will send a check in the mail for that hour of labor. We will also supply the parts that your mechanic needs.
Another option would be for you to contact the service center we suggested taking the machine to. Their contact information has been listed below.

We will also supply the parts that your mechanic needs.
Another option would be for you to contact the service center we suggested taking the machine to. Their contact information has been listed below.

We understand the challenges involved in transporting a large generator, and we appreciate the effort you made to coordinate service. As outlined in our warranty policy, Westinghouse offers a three-year limited warranty: the first year covers both parts and labor, while the remaining two years cover parts only. Your generator was outside of the labor coverage period when the issue was reported on 4/16/24.
That said, we still worked to assist by providing a nearby authorized service center and even offering to cover the first hour of labor as a courtesydespite the labor portion of your warranty having expired. Additionally, while it is the customers responsibility to transport the unit to a service center per the terms of the warranty, we remained in communication and did our best to support you through the process.

I just got off the phone with ****** at 05/15/2025 @ 3:20pm CST and the generator IS NOT READY as they have not even installed the Carb that didn't arrive until 3:30pm yesterday afternoon. This company isn't capable of telling the truth. I can provide phone records if needed to prove that I called them after the business responded to this complaint saying the unit was ready.

We stand by our previous response and the actions weve taken to address this matter. We provided the necessary parts, including the carburetor, to ensure the generator could be repaired. The generator in question is no longer under warranty, but we went above and beyond our warranty obligations by supplying the part as a goodwill gesture.
We acknowledge that the shops timeline for installation and communication may not have aligned with the customers expectations, but we fulfilled our responsibility to provide the parts for the repair. Since the generator is out of warranty, it is the customers responsibility to follow up directly with the repair shop for updates on the installation and status of the unit.
We have made every effort to assist the customer within our means and continue to encourage the customer to work with the shop for any remaining steps regarding the repair.

I am rejecting this response because:I was not given the opportunity to comment on how the power washer was maintained. We live in southwest ******* so the comments about not winterizing the power washer are not accurate. This power washer looks like new, has always been kept inside in a climate controlled garage, I have always used fuel with a stabilizer, and maintained the power washer according to the instructional manual. This power washer has only been used a handful of times and should not have this problem already. In addition, the business doesnt even know that it is a water pump that is the problem so not sure why they would send a water pump. As they said in their response, this is still within the warranty period and should be replaced since it is due to a manufacturing defect. I am very disappointed in the quality of this product and would hope a reputable company like Westinghouse would stand behind their product. I also talked to someone at customer service that said with how this looks (I sent in a video showing how welll this has been maintained and how little it has been used) that this should not have happened and that they were assigning it to a lead but I never heard back. I am asking the company to stand behind their warranty and product as I am still within the warranty period and a manufacturing defect led to this issue. I am ok with a replacement unit or a refund but sending just a pump, when that hasnt even been confirmed as the problem, is not acceptable. In addition, it would cost me more to have this worked on than to buy a new one. I hope Westinghouse does the right thing for a loyal customer so I do not need to take my complaint to social media.

We appreciate the customer's loyalty to our brand and the care they have expressed in maintaining the unit. However, based on the issue described and the information provided, wed like to offer the following clarification.
The most common cause of pump damage in pressure washers is improper winterization. To prevent the pump from freezing or corroding during storage, especially in colder months, it is necessary to:
Ensure all water is drained from the hose and pump.
Add RV (non-toxic) antifreeze or a pressure washer pump protector to displace any remaining water.
Additionally, proper maintenance per the user manual is required to keep the product in good working order and within warranty guidelines. The customer indicated that the unit has been used approximately four times a year for 30 minutes per sessionabout 8 hours of total use. At this interval, the unit would require at least one oil change. The manual also calls for regular checks of the engine oil, the water inlet screen and gasket, and cleaning around the air intake and muffler. These maintenance steps were not mentioned in the customers statement.
Given the information available and the unit being in the final year of its limited warranty (which covers parts but not labor), we have advised the customer to take the unit to an authorized service center for a proper diagnosis. While labor is not covered, any part determined to be defective due to manufacturing and not from maintenance-related wear will be replaced under warranty.
As a gesture of goodwill, we are offering a one-time courtesy replacement of the water pump. Once the part ships, the customer will receive an email with tracking details. Weve also provided a link to our warranty policy for reference.

As stated in the Westinghouse Limited Warranty, your pressure washer is covered under a 3-year warranty:
In the first year, both parts and labor are covered.
During the final year where your unit currently falls, with approximately five months remaining parts only are covered.
It is the customers responsibility during this phase of the warranty to have the unit taken to an authorized service center for a proper diagnosis. If the service center determines the issue is due to a manufacturing defect, we will provide the necessary replacement parts. If the unit is deemed non-repairable, Westinghouse reserves the right as clearly outlined in our Limited Warranty to repair or replace the unit at our discretion.
Although the standard process requires a service center diagnosis and confirmation of a defective part, and this step has not been completed, we are willing to move forward with a one-time Out-of-Box replacement as a courtesy. This offer exceeds the requirements of our warranty and reflects our commitment to customer satisfaction.
We will need to receive the original unit back before shipping the replacement. A ***** return label and detailed return instructions have been provided to assist you with the return process. Once the original unit is received at our warehouse, we will ship the replacement unit.
Please understand that this decision is final, and no refund will be issued. The replacement unit provided will be fully inspected, tested, and certified to meet Westinghouses performance and reliability standards.

I bought a WPRX3400 Pressure Washer in June 2023. Every winter I keep my pressure washer in my heated basement with my other power tools. I follow winterizing steps per the machine's manual, and flush water out of the hose and pump after every use. On 3/20/25, a crack appeared in the pump while I was using the washer, causing the machine to depressurize and leak. I filed a claim, as parts are covered two years after purchase. At the same time I filed claims for the hose and handle, which had sprung leaks and broken respectively that previous fall. While the hose and handle were covered, the pump replacement claim was denied, stating that cracks in the pump are only associated with freezing breakage. When I called customer service, I explained that I am very aware and cognizant of the importance of winterizing the machine which is why I follow their instructions every time it gets cold, and after every use. I asked why they didn't question the hose tearing due to freezing, and the tech said that that because this particular part was expensive (a "next step up" part), that they do not provide replacements. I pointed out that their warranty did not distinguish between inexpensive and expensive. The tech said his supervisors said this damage could only have occurrred due to freezing. I have had this machine for 1.5 years, and I take it inside with me and winterize it, and dispute the claim that this happened due to freezing. we got the generator to work once. we needed to use in Sept. but it would not start. called westinghouse they said get the battery checked we did and it was no good, westinghouse was sending new battery they said 21 days. I waited call again in oct. and they said they were sending battery. got the new battery 10/16. generator still did not work. called again the said try propane, we tried propane it still did not work, they they said new spark plug. 4 months of do this do that and still not working. then before they give me a name of a repair shop i had to send them a copy of the invoice. 3 days later they gave me repair place. now they had generator for a month and just called today 3/12/25 saying it was the start button that was broken. 5 months of warranty for a start button. now with playing threw their hoops the gas has gone bad and clogged the carbonator. Westinghouse is refusing to provide warranty service and parts for a faulty generator that was defective since the first moment that it was connected. Westinghouse it falsely claiming that the generator was improperly connected and that was connected 24/7 to a propane source when this is, in fact, false. I'm expecting Westinghouse to fulfil their warranty requirements by providing the faulty generator regulator and ship it to Yoshi Lawn Mower shop in ************ for warranty installation. Moreover, Westinghouse initially offered to ship the regulator directly to me and ask if I was comfortable with installation myself, proving even more ludicrous their subsequent claim.
