Great Surgeon, But the Rest Was a Disaster!
While my surgeon and their immediate team were excellent—professional, skilled, and genuinely caring—the rest of my experience at Miami Valley Hospital was a complete disaster.
From the start, I was met with disorganization, confusion, and poor communication between departments. I was shuffled around with no clear direction, and critical information about my care seemed to be missing or misunderstood. The lack of coordination was not only frustrating—it was unacceptable.
Post-op care was just as bad. I was neglected, basic needs were ignored, and I felt completely dismissed by the hospital staff. It was clear that aside from my surgeon’s team, most of the hospital had no idea what they were doing.
I would never return here unless it was specifically for my surgeon. The hospital as a whole needs a serious overhaul in professionalism and patient care.

This is extremely hard for me. I have written tons of reviews, and this one is the hardest, most painful one I'll ever have to write.
My dad was transferred to this mvhs hospital because of lack of respiratory staff in the north hospital. My dad had final stage copd, and went into the hospital having a hard time breathing. The first one had got him stabilized with a bypap machine, and switched him to this one. This one was fine at first, wasn't checking the CO2 levels though, which was the problem he had originally.
Then comes yesterday, when they were talking about finally getting him out of intensive care . Brought him a wheelchair, a walker , and a commode to take "home". Well that was until the breathing treatment. My dad needed constant oxygen. The respiratory therapist, took his oxygen off and didn't put it back on, my dad struggled to breathe before They realized he needed oxygen, put it back on via mask, then she failed to turn it up. And by that time it was to late. His heart started going because the tension of trying to breathe, they rushed to put a Ventilator on him, and it was just to late , as they were breathing for him ,the head of respiratory therapy came in and said "does he have a heartbeat", he did not, and noone even noticed until she said something. They started cpr. But he was gone. Thier lack of responsiveness, and because the girl didn't know he needed oxygen the entire time, killed my father, then they tried to cover up their stories the whole time I was there, everyone had a different story.
We were going to file a medical Malpractice suit. But the hospital went ahead and reported to the coronor that it was natural causes. Which, no, it wasn't, it was because they left him without oxygen for too long and he went into cardiac distress, So the coroner wouldn't do an autopsy, and we all know how much a private autopsy is $2-3000, So yeah, they get away with murder.
I'm sure this won't be the last time either, and bet it wasn't the first.
