I won a raffle at a carshow a month ago. It was a gift voucher for $450 or $600 (I wasn’t sure based on the card). I called the owner **** the next Wed and told him I had received the gift voucher from the carshow. He said “congrats, what do you have and want to get done?” I told him I had a 30 Model A that had lake headers with down tubes. I just want to run pipes from the down tubes to the back, He said “come on we’re here”. I loaded the car up, took it there that day. I got there, he had me pull inside to see what I was wanting and to figure out routing. **** said “give me a day to come up with a plan and I’ll call you, what is your budget?” I replied with “Just give me a call when you figure it out, and whatever the voucher won’t cover, we can discuss it”. Went inside to give him my info. When I handed him my keys, I also handed him the voucher. He said thanks, I’ll be in touch. That Friday **** called. He said I got you done! Come get her. I said “wow man, I wasn’t expecting that! What did the total end up being? He said “Its was only 533 and some change. I get there and go inside to see if I owe anything (back to that wasn’t sure if it was a 450 or 600 voucher) and to get keys. **** was on the phone, so the guy that works for him cashed me out. He told me the total was 555.05. I told him that **** had a voucher I had given him. **** gets off the phone as says “the voucher is only good for trucks and vans”. I said “wait, what?” He said “yes sir, it says it on the card. Says it on the wall.” I replied “if the voucher didn’t apply, I should’ve been informed when 1) I called and told you I won it and told you what kind of car I had 2) brought the car and you could see it and mentioned the voucher again and/or 3) when I handed you the voucher with my keys. He said “it says it on the card sir.” I asked if that voucher was being applied at all to my car and he said “no sir”, so I asked for the voucher back. I told him I would give it to someone else. I paid the guy,

My name is **** ******* here at exhaust Warehouse Fairborn ohio. I am answering a complaint and the only complaint I've ever had against me, it was a misunderstanding, on my behalf I was wrong for not calling him to let him know that the card he received at the car show didn't apply to the car he had that was totally my fault. it was on the card that this pertain to trucks and vans, with a single muffler dual outlet two tailpipes coating 600,I don't have too much more to say about it but forgive me. I have never had to explain myself before I am embarrassed, I'll have to pay more attention been at this over 45 years.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
I’m not interested in an apology. The three times I mentioned the gift card the day we talked after knowing what kind of vehicle I had….twice being after he just inspected the vehicle he failed to mention it didn’t apply. This wasn’t a misunderstanding. This was an absolute con to trap someone into a bill. I’ve temoved the exhaust from my car. I’m not interested in representing this guy on my car in any fashion. I will happily give him the exhaust, the card I received, in exchange for my money back. I’ll just pretend I never “won” anything. In regards to him never received a complaint..I have been a business owner myself for years, and in the car industry. I have never filed a complaint on anyone in my life. This is the first time I’ve ever witnessed such a deceitful act from a business. The several business owners I am friends with agree vehemently. If **** has an ounce of integrity, he will just refund the amount in full, take the card back as well as his exhaust. At the end of the day, with that transaction, he still gets out of installing an exhaust he donated to a sponsor. It’s also worth mentioning, his excuse of it being for a Van or Truck on only further proves it was a scam. Whoever is reviewing this should take the time to look up a 1930 Ford Model A. He should’ve been relieved and excited to use the card for that. It used approx half the materials that would’ve been required of a van or truck. Thanks for your help.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *****
