I have an account that I opened that I never agreed or signed for over draft protection on, however they added it to my account and I have been charged over and over. I have made deposit and and asked for account to be closed. They refuse to close account stating I have a -.14 balance which I have record of the deposit so they will continue to charge me a 3.00 daily fee on. Never did anyone mention or did I sign anything agreeing to this. I should have only had to pay 219.69 for charges they paid that should have been declined if money was not on the account. But to get account closed I paid what I had to. I'd like reimbursement for that

      Business Response

      Date: 03/18/2024

      Please consider
this to be our official response to the concern stated which was assigned by
      BBB an ID of ********.

We investigated the matter and based on ******* *********
comments and provided screenshots believe that bank personnel and automated
systems handled transactions in the proper manner.

******* claimed, “Never did anyone mention or did I sign
anything agreeing to this,” referring to the bank’s overdraft practices and/or
opt-in for ATM and everyday debit card transactions. However, on March 8, 2024,
bank personnel sent ******* screenshots and log records from the online application
proving acknowledgement of the bank’s “Bounce Protection Customer Overdraft
Policy” as well as a “Yes” answer to the option, “I want Ohio Valley Bank to
authorize and pay overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions
from this account.” These disclosures and statements are prominently displayed
within the application to open an account with action required by the applicant
in order to agree and acknowledge.

The account has been in a negative balance for over a month
and so overdraft charges were incurred as ******* reported. And even though the
bank acted upon the account owner’s instructions at account opening in regards
to payment of items, in an effort of goodwill, the bank refunded a total of
$98.00 in overdraft fees on March 8.
