    I hired **** to do a roof on my mom’s home in November of 2022. He had one person reroof the home and garage by themself, taking over a week. He never informed me how long the job was going to take because compared to any other roofer, that is very long. So the dumper blocked the driveway a very long time and he never had it picked up promptly afterwards. I called the dumper company myself since their number was on the side.
    At the end of the project, I noticed the entire back part of the roof had shingles that were not flat and wavy in appearance. Shingles were raised up around vents and areas were not sealed. I sent him texts with the videos and a video. He came to the jobsite with who performed the project and the roofer did some more work, which proves that it was not done properly the first time. The front of the house and garage I had already purchased shingles myself. There was not enough for the back of the house, so I paid **** for the additional materials. At the end, when this issue arise he blamed it on the shingles I bought. I said no, that is not true. **** would not even know since he was never there. He told me that during the summer next year, they would sit down better.
    This week I tried to call him to speak about the shingles still being an issue. He would not answer my call. I called a second time, he answered and hung up on me. I text him explaining the situation and immediately he blamed my shingles, which he knows is a lie and I informed him I told him that in person to begin with. He said the front and back looked good, which is true since those were the shingles I bought. The newly purchased singles by him were used not on the garage, so there is no chance the shingles were good for the garage from me and not for another part of the house.
    He then called me delusional if I thought he was going to do anything to help me. I repeatedly asked him to call me, which he refused to do. He said he didn't care what I did.

    The customers statement is incorrect.

    The shingles that were provided by the customer were second-hand shingles not stacked properly and had been sitting in the driveway for a year.  Those shingles were indeed the ones used on the back of the house.  There weren't enough shingles to do the whole project so we purchased new shingles and used those on the front of the house because the front of the house is facing the road and needed to look the best.  I also advised the customer that we could not warranty the second-hand shingles to which he responded that it was going to be a rental.  He wasn't that worried about it and he wanted to save money. The whole reason that he contacted us is because we did his brother's roof with no issues there.  When the customer contacted us about the shingles not laying down we informed him that the second-hand shingles were used on the back of the house and he argued this.  He said we were lying and he was calling the better business bureau.

    I am rejecting this response because:

     

    The business owner is incorrectly stating the facts.  The front of the house and garage were done first with shingles I provided.  Both areas have no issues, so the shingles I had are not the issue.  The back of the house, which was improperly installed, was with the shingles he provided that I paid extra for.   If the back was my fault due to the shingles, the garage would also have the same issues since they were both from the same shingles. 

     

    I tried to resolve the issue but he would not ************* and would only text me telling me I was delusional if I expected him to come back and do anything.  He has not been professional or tried to do anything.  All he is doing is lying.  He was never even at the job to know the order of when the roofing was installed.  My mother who lives at the home and others can verify the front of the home was installed first.  There are many shingles still not lying flat and pieces sticking up in the air around vents.  I have had several roofers tell me he did not properly install the roof on the back part of the house.  I would like to be compensate and made whole so I can have the work redone properly.
