I contacted this business looking to change to a closer provider and get a second opinion on work that needed done. I spoke with ****** and
I was very clear that I had medicare, was on a limited income of my ssdi for disability. I was told I was welcome to make an appointment and they would call to see if initial consult would be covered. Upon arriving I asked if consult would be covered and was told by ****** it would be. I was eventually taken back and had an examination/xrays done which is typical. They also took a series of "digital photographs" with a pen camera which was unusual. The dentist came in afterwards and said I needed less work that I was quoted elsewhere.
They handed me a 3 page estimate and I stated I would not be able to return at that price.
I later recieved my bill for $269 in which insurance covered only $31.
Confused, I called and asked what happened?
Referring to insurance company policy, etc, I reminded them I was told personally that day before hand that this would be covered. After more excuses, we then agreed to my making payments of $25 a month. After 5 pmts, I recieved an email on April 7th 2025 that the office was moving to Clyde Oh. April 11, 2025, an email stated they were cancelling appts after May 1st. I called the office and asked if they would consider forgiving the remaining $100. I was told by ****** she would ask and get back to me. May statement came and no contact. June statement arrived so I called office again. An answering service stating "Grand Rapids Family Dental" picked up and I explained the situation asking they call me back. I asked what number they would call from and she said (419)832-2914. Grand Rapids. The next day I saw a call from "Clyde Ohio" and figured it was them.
Upon talking to ******, I again asked about forgiving the balance. She just reiterated it was insurance co fault and indicated she would not ask. I feel this business was less than transparent and I incurred a balance under misrepresentation.
