April 2021, Shawtomotive provided an estimate for $10,316.05 to order and replace an engine in a 2004 H2. I agreed to the estimate- shop required $5100.00 paid upfront to order the engine. Months pass- I'm told the engine arrived to be installed. Engine allegedly was installed- I recieved a phone call from the shop owner explaining the New- Remanufactured engine that was ordered with a warranty wad BAD- I was told the engine was faulty and not assembled properly from Spartan. The engine was allegedly ordered from Advanced Auto Parts. I was told they started the new engine and it had a Rod knocking. I was told the shop would have to send the engine back to get a replacement. Months passed, the engine wasn't sent back. WHY? The shop owner never provided a good reason why. Seeking resolution- and a running car, I gave the shop owner every opportunity to remedy the situation. Come to find out, my old engine was still at the shop. The owner did not return it for a core. STATUS- New engine bad, old engine is bad- I was told my engine heads were stolen from the shop by an employee. Common sense told me the reason the shop DID NOT send the new engine back - was because the SHOP installed it incorrectly, or it wasn't primed properly before they started it. Eventually I was told my old engine wasn't that bad and it might be quicker to rebuild it. I RELUCTANTLY agreed. Eventually the car was completed. I picked it up, drove it around town- noticed oil pressure seemed low, called shop- was told it was fine. Parked it- the 1st 80 mile round trip - The vehicle goes into LIMP mode. I drove it to the shop immediately- Months pass im told this is a new issue which can't be figured out. I'm told the new motor that isn't in my car will be put in the shop owners car. I bought a new motor for the warranty- ended up with my original engine- no warranty, and a car with the minimum amount of required oil pressure to run- Moved car to a different shop. I needed two different issues diagnosed, power stearing and ignition. ****** got me in door within 24hrs and fixed the same day. After fixing each issue AND a related third, I was out the door at only $500. He could have told me $1000 and I would have believed it.****** loves what he does and it shows. Please support this local, woman-owned small business.
