We recently purchased a 2025 Basecamp 20x. Prior to pulling out of the dealership parking lot for our very long drive home, the staff turned off the lights and left. When we began to drive we immediately realized that the brake system was completely non-functional. We had no other option than to make the long drive home without brakes. The dealership referred us to airstream and then airstream sent us to coach-net and as it turns out, airstream will not cover the cost of fixing the brakes. They have delivered a defective product and then are charging us additional money out of pocket to make a brand new product function correctly. I cannot overstate the depth of our disappointment in this company and their product.

I do not have enough space here to list all of the things that are wrong with our 2023 Flying Cloud 30FB Bunk that we purchased new. While repairs have been covered under warranty, they have been so extensive that we have found the RV unusable for months at a time. Our water heater did not work properly for two years. A wall was not installed properly at the factory, causing the need for sheet metal repair. We had alignment issues and major front end separation. Our microwave fell out and broke. One of our fans did not work from the factory. Our solar breaker and one air conditioner already failed along with both water inlets. While we had it in Jackson Center for repairs (for the second time in one summer), they cut the cables for our TV and failed to hook our thermostat back up, while leaving our rig trashed. A window broke seemingly spontaneously. We had leaks from improperly installed solar panels. Our first water heater sprung a leak. Our waste tank was not properly connected and we got sewage all over the inside of the trailer. Our solar and batteries were not properly installed by the dealer. The list goes on. After months in the shop, we think we might finally have an RV where everything works. For the first time in two years. This was not our first RV, but our third and our most expensive by at least 2x. We know sometimes things break and have to be repaired. This is beyond anything we have ever encountered. We have tried to work with Airstream for a solution and all they have offered is extending the warranty by a few months. They are selling piles of junk, servicing them poorly, and apparently proud of it.

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing a new 2024 Caravel. Four shades don’t work and Airstream won’t seem to cover the broken mechanisms to fix the issue while the other warranty work is being done. The bench seat latch broke and Airstream also doesn’t seem to be responding (the plastic circle just cracked in half and fell out while taking the first trip). The lines for the water were placed inappropriately so that they banged in use. The seller told us to just pop out and let the outside shower pressure release EVERY TIME that happened. The water heater intermittently doesn’t turn off but because they couldn’t replicate this at the repair shop they won’t cover the cost of looking at the issue. I couldn’t use the key - I can’t believe I let them let us drive off with the unit - it just needed some dry WD-40 but Bay Area Airstream wouldn’t do that before we took it, told us to just use it and it would loosen up. So many issues and it cost $600 to have them look at them (because warranty wouldn’t cover it). For such an expensive trailer you’d think they could fix the warranty work in less than 8 weeks. Buyer be ware. I’m guessing once Thor purchased Airstream the customer service went with the original owners.

Poor workmanship would suggest hastily built trailer. Currently own 2021 19’ Caravel. We have no problem with dealer in NM they are great and very busy, hard working. We have huge problem with Airstream construction and shoddy interior workmanship. Have owned 2 trailers, other was 2018 25’Flying Cloud. Both equally poorly finished. Broken latches on multiple cabinet doors, stuck fans, two sinks do not drain, paneling finish nails do not hold (panels come off), closet door hinges break necessitating removal of door for trip, refrigerators malfunction on AC and so on. Externally: electrical connection to car replaced, insufficient a/c on 25’. Each trailer we have owned exhibited these issues/ problems FIRST TIME used. We have owned Pleasure Way, Shasta and Coleman. Honestly the Coleman Pop-Up 16’ was a gem. The Pleasure Way better than the Airstreams, the Shasta hastily built little repro was cute had some finish problems but better than the Airstreams for workmanship. Asking after 2 less than great trailers, why the price guys?? You cranking them out too fast??? That’s my best guess.

Unfortunately, we are unable to find anything by this owner's name. Would it be possible to provide the entire last name.

The quality of the craftmanship is the worest one what I saw in the industry.
The roof has the corrision around the top solar panel sealant. The water leak on the roof was reported and "fixed?" by the dealer on May 25, 2019. There had no rain in California for couple years until the heavy rain in the last couple months, 2023. The same problem happened again recently. I climbed on to the roof and found the corrsision around the solar panel sealant. Obviousaly, the problem happened at the beginning of the installation and at the factory installation. The factory defect was not found and handled by the dealer properly. Now, both the local dealer and Airstream denied the mis-handling the leaking problem. In addition, many problems were poped-up every years, such as, the kitchen cabinet, the kitchen drain pipe, the wast water pipe, the broken macerator, the house battery, and, many. Fortunately, they were covered by my 7 years extended warranty.
    The reponse from Airstream was:
Sealant is only covered for a year. It is up to the owner to check sealants for dry rotting or cracking as this is a maintenance item.We suggest checking all sealants once a year. All of our dealers are independently owned, so if the dealership mishandled the repair you would have to take that up with them.
My RV always stays in the south California. The weather is pretty dry over there for the last four years. I believed that the roof rust probelm would happen to all the Interstate motohomes. It should be recalled by Airstream.

In response to Mr. Liu customer review comment, this unit was purchased as a used unit. Sealants and corrosion is covered for the first 90 days of purchase of the first owner. After this time this would be considered a maintenance items that the owner would be responsible for this includes sealants.

The comment did not respond to the factory defect. The problem could not be found within 90 days or even within a year. When it happens to many RV solar panel sealant areas, Airstream should issue the warning to their customers and inspect each RVs. Their actions are irresponsible to their quality commitments. Airstream does take the lead on their products. In general, the factory warranty is only applied to few individual faults, and, not massive/common issues.
