My car went to this shop (Vandalia location) on 12/15/2023. They replaced the ponytails and the blower motor resistor. They were able to get paperwork from a previous shop to replace the parts since they had been worked on before. We were not charged anything because we went there first thing in the morning and stayed all day. This was a great experience. The motor blower and resistor went out again on February 17th, 2024 and we went back to Accel on 2/19/2024 to have the parts replaced. The car was dropped off at 10am. At 2pm, I called to receive an update. They had not looked at the car yet. I called again at 3pm and they still had no answers. I called again at 4pm and was told I would be called back in a few minutes. After 15 minutes I got a call back that, in sum, the wrong version of the parts were installed and this is why it kept going out. One of the employees, Jenny, asked if I wanted to pay $330 or pick up the car. I stated that the parts should still be under warranty since they were just replaced two months ago. She stated they were not under warranty because we did not pay last time (due to waiting so long). My husband drove to Accel to speak with them and asked to speak with the owner. Instead, Jenny called the police and handed my husband back the car keys. My husband received a trespassing warning. I called again on 2/20 and asked to have a copy of the warranty information for the parts so I could receive reimbursement for the faulty parts. I was told I would receive a call back in a few minutes. It has now been over an hour with no return phone call. I ultimately would like for my car parts to be replaced with no charge since they are still under warranty or to be replaced by a different shop and reimbursed by Accel at a later date.

      Business Response

This is the prime example of no good deed goes unpunished.  The customer brought their vehicle in after the previous shop they used went out of business.  They were told after the initial check out, that we had to repair wiring under the dash and wait for the parts to come from the parts supplier that the previous shop used.  The parts supplier agreed to warranty the part.  The customer stated they had no where else to be so they would just hang out.  We replaced the blower resistor and repaired the wiring at no charge to the customer, something NO OTHER SHOP WOULD DO. We had to pull in a favor to get the parts store to warranty another shops part purchase.  When they brought the vehicle back in with the blower motor inop again, we found the blower resistor and connector melted.  We suggested using OE parts instead of aftermarket, in which they would be responsible for.  They refused to pay anything, yelled at my employee on the phone, then said her husband was on his way to talk to us face to face.  When he showed up, he was given his keys and we told him we were no longer going to provide them service due to their actions on the phone and asked to leave.  He then started yelling and telling customers in our waiting room that we do bad business, so we called the police and had him escorted off the property since he wouldnt do so himself.  Later, the wife called and said a few times to makes sure the first person she talked to didnt know she was on the phone, and wanted our parts invoice number and where we purchased said part from so she could call and find out if we still had a warranty on it.  I am shocked that someone would act this way towards a shop that stepped up and helped them out.

Took vehicle for a radiator replacement only. Shop broke Air Conditioning System while performing radiator replacement due to a non-standard radiator replacement process. Shop also broke the Horn, horn is now not functioning. For the AC, shop claims bolts were stripped but did not willingly supply proof. Shop provided no explanation for the Horn. Shop has a BBB complaint history of overcharging other customers due to 'Stripped Bolt' issues. I have witness statements of the AC system and Horn working immediately before being taken to the shop. I now have a car that has more things wrong with it than it was taken in with, and shop is refusing to make me whole.
