They charge for late fees even if you’re not late on payment, for that reason I closed the account and will never open it again, just lost a good customer. They don’t even deserve 1 star. ??

Avoid at all costs! They negate promotional contracts and disable autopay so you have to pay late fees and interest charges. I coordinated autopay 4 separate times and every month they would find a new reason why it could not have worked. They like to scam people, I had no control over working with them as they bought my loan from another lending service.

Never will I ever do business with this scam company again. You get lured in with 0% interest rates, then they massage the billing so that you exceed the promotional period and soak you with interest. They make it difficult to find and contact a real person. And when you do, they are in India and are completely unhelpful. This is not a serious business.

If I only I could leave zero stars! I was moved to their Pay Later platform for a loan on a new furnace. Under Ally Bank, I was able to set up automatic payments for more than the minimum.
Synchrony not only doesn't allow additional payments above the minimum, but the website is very limited. I can't get a statement any more (surely this has to be against some lending regulations) nor can I get my full account number without putting in a request and having it mailed to me. I will make it a priority to stay away from this firm in the future!

I would give Synchrony a very negative star if I could.

I had a $1500 credit limit on my Amazon Prime Store Card. It got paid off. Then, without any warning, they lowered my credit limit to $100. They gave reasons in a letter but a warning beforehand would have been the ethical thing to do. I just paid off nearly $3000 in credit card debt from another lender and Synchrony, by doing this, totally messed up my utilization rate. My credit score will probably go down now because of this unethical move. I won't be surprised if they do this to the other card I have from them. Synchrony isn't BBB accredited. So that says TONS about how they do business.

This bank is coming off as a badly run accounting scam as I am finding they don't keep very detailed logs of anything. They are trying to gaslight me into thinking it's my or my bank's mistakes but are unable to show me what I entered in despite me having updated/reviewed the payment info 3 times in 5 months to *make sure* it was correct for automation- my bank info I've had for a decade and use to pay for everything with no problems. I called customer service to figure this issue out and being neither helpful nor forthcoming, the female agent said I probably entered my payment info correct or had insufficient funds. Then she kept defaulting to "you'll need to make a payment to bring this account current" and left it at that. I told her that as the late fees may be a system issue and not because of my failure to pay, I wouldn't be making a payment on my balance until they were looked at, the issue resolved and When I refuted the above standard excuses and pointed out I needed better information from them to compare with my bank and my own records if I was going to be responsible for the late fees, she hung up on me. The agent clearly didn't try to problem solve NOR at any point ask her supervisor for support or help. I called again and reached a supervisor. He tried to dig a little further into their systems but was unable to find any useful information to support or deny their responsibility. He also regurgitated the standard excuses during our sleuthing. He waived 1/3 late fees, but we didn't resolve much at all. Either way, once this is resolved I am closing this account. Don't play with my credit and reputation like that.

I am publicly documenting a deeply unethical and obstructive experience I had with Synchrony Bank while seeking financial hardship assistance on my TJX Rewards credit account.

After waiting over one hour to reach a human being, I was told by their outsourced call center that the only way to receive hardship assistance was to close my account — and even then, only if I could prove I had a second income source. Not only is this absurd, it's discriminatory toward anyone experiencing real hardship. It penalizes you for being honest about your financial situation.

What followed was a scripted, circular maze of misdirection and gaslighting. I was lied to, given no options, and ultimately left with nothing but exhaustion and frustration. The experience was designed to make me give up — not to help me.

      Let me be clear:

      - I was actively seeking help

      - I was met with denial, miscommunication, and silence

      - Their rep left a voicemail, but refuses to respond in writing

Synchrony’s policies appear intentionally misleading. They advertise support but weaponize silence and procedural confusion to avoid giving it. Their refusal to respond to follow-up emails or provide documentation tells me everything I need to know: this is a performance, not a solution.

If you’re considering working with TJMaxx, Synchrony, or any credit line attached to them — don’t. I’ll be filing a complaint with the CFPB and continuing to speak out until this system is seen for what it is: predatory, performative, and energetically abusive.
