1 starhave been comfort club member for long time at least 10 years or more. Even bought a new system with them when old system (25 years old) finally went bad. The last 3 times a Tech came out for checks was told our system that recently ran out of warranty was not working and needed replaced. we told them system was running fine and then tried saying we had blockage in system that could cost us $1700.00 to repair. the tech would pinch off system then show us there was no pressure. we did not feel comfortable with this so got 2nd opinion. other company said system was working good just had setting that needed adjusted. I called the office and told them I immediately wanted to cancel the comfort club and why telling them how rude and incorrect the techs that had been coming out was. I was told the membership was canceled and thought all was done. following month was again charged membership fee. called office telling them that this was canceled and money needed refunded. was told it would be done in 2-3 business days. waited a week rechecked to find no refund. called office and was told that they have the right to charge up to 60 days past cancelation.Review fromPhyllis L

I feel i was over charged by this company, I was charged $495.00 for a simple wall thermostat at my home. Plus a $89.99 service charge. I was charged a total of $600.00 plus tax for a 20 minute thermostat replacement that was a $25.00 thermostat i could have bought at anywhere else. I feel being a single elderly woman i was taken advantage of. Thank You Phyllis LillyMcAfee Heating & Air Conditioning

Please know that we never intend to cause you or anyone to feel they are taken advantage of. This is exactly why we prepare estimates, discuss options and obtain authorization for the work performed as we did with you. We had no indication you felt this way when you chose to move forward and signed off on the estimate and work. Our pricing is flat rate and is the same for everyone - barring discounts available to Comfort Family Members. You understandably declined this membership opportunity due to your impending move. Because you did not choose to purchase a thermostat on your own and install it, I want to make sure you are provided with a few more details regarding the work that we performed for you. Ultimately, the cost of the repair was not just for the thermostat we installed - which cannot be purchased anywhere for only $25, unfortunately, or our flat rate would reflect that. You were a brand-new customer to us when you called at 8am and we were at your home by 10:40am. Our technician utilized his years of training and expertise to not assume what the issue was, but to diagnostically determine the exact issue. He then had the ability to perform the repair in a timely manner, to test and verify the issue was resolved and ensure your concerns were addressed. Further, your warranty is covered, and you have the assurance that McAfee will stand behind their work and be here for years to come as we have been for over 30 years. It is so much more than just replacing a thermostat, and it is the reason our customers call us – we will figure out the problem in a timely manner and we will solve the problem - getting our customer’s system up and running again. I see that your system, while over 20 years old, is now functioning properly with the new thermostat, which is great news! Again, please know our sole intention was to help you when your system was not providing the cool air you needed, and we are truly sorry if you felt otherwise. Feel free to call so that we can further discuss your concerns if this information does not answer your questions.Review fromJim A

1 starFirst of all William, I’m not an idiot. McAfee installed a new AC and furnace about 7 years ago. We had problems with the AC. The coil leaked and was replaced, a valve leaked and was replaced and another time, the condenser needed cleaning. We had the AC serviced early in the season last year to forestall any problems and didn’t use the AC until sometime later. The AC failed to function and we were told by their lead technician that he thought he knew what the problem was but needed to come back the next day. He never came. I called McAfee and was referred to Mr. Mcafee’s son who told me that the AC was toast as stop leak was in the system. He passed me off to his installation manager who said that we should update our system, AC and furnace, as it was outdated and offered the new system at $12000, which according to him, was a good deal. I said the furnace was fine, we only needed the AC. I asked to talk to Mr. McAfee but never had the opportunity. During this time it was very hot and we needed AC. We replaced the AC with another company. This never was about money, it’s about integrity and honesty. Why write this now after a year? I debated, perhaps hoping that I would have that opportunity to talk to Mr. McAfee.Review fromWilliam B

5 starsThese "reviews" apparently come from idiots or people who have some personal or political axe to grind (yeah, I know you will probably edit that out, but it remains no less accurate). I have had nothing but outstanding, that's OUTSTANDING, service from McAfee for well over 20 years. They came to my rescue years ago on the coldest night of the year (26 below zero that night) when the fan in my heating unit (installed by another company) suddenly squealed to a halt at 1:30 in the morning on a Friday/Saturday. I called the "other" company and got a recording saying they couldn't be there until Monday. I went to the Yellow Pages, found and called McAfee, and their duty person called me back in 10 minutes. He came to the house with heaters and fans, stayed with me until things were going more smoothly, then, first thing the next morning, they were at my house with a replacement unit. While the replacement was underway, Greg McAfee himself stopped by to see how things were going. Since then, and in two houses, they have been THE BEST!!! You people at the BBB are also showing your "worth" by your refusal to accredit Greg McAfee and his dedicated, professional staff - your biased politics are screamingly obvious! I will never use an HVAC company other than McAfee, and until they read this they will not know that I am so ticked off at all you losers who bad mouth this wonderful company. Also they won't even know who I am - this is totally unsolicited, and I hope my angry attitude won’t reflect negatively on McAfee. They have nothing to do with these comments. All this politically-driven ugliness has to STOP!Review fromJoshua H

1 starNever do business with this company. I called to receive a quote on a HVAC replacement. The individual I talked to, who did not give me his name, was one of rudest individuals I've ever talked to in sales. He asked how many quotes I've already taken and when I said five he stated, "Wow, that's a lot. Why so many?" I then replied that I was just trying to get the best "bang for my buck". He then replied with, "Usually that means that a person is looking for the cheapest product." After a few more degrading comments after asking him what products they sell, I said that it doesn't seem that you would like my business. I think that's all the information I need. His reply was "That's what I figured." I hung up at that point. Again, worst customer service I have ever experienced. I hope Greg McAfee sees how his employees treat potential customers. I will tell every person I know to never do business with McAfee Heating and Air.Review fromAmy P

I tried for 3 months to get a hold of anyone at this place. After the 2nd email and the phone call that they actually did answer, I canceled my contract with them. I was assured that they would not take another payment. Well, they did. When I called she argued with me that I was still under a 2 year contract. Since I bought them in 2010 I don't think so. Claimed I didn't notify them in time. I tried for months. She wouldn't budge. They take your money without doing any service. I don't know what happened to this company. They used to be good. The woman I talked to couldn't have been more rude. If that's how you want to do business, good luck. If they put new management in place, that's the problem. Someone needs to be fired from that company. Or better yet, just close for good. People don't take too kindly being treated bad. That's how you lose business.McAfee Heating & Air Conditioning

I have reviewed our company phone and overall communication history and we did receive an online message from you on 11/21/22. We called you that day at 7:44 am to let you know we would process the cancellation. There were no other prior occasions of contact from you that I could find in recent months, other than when you subsequently called us on December 2nd. I assure you that the cancellation was processed the same day. As you know, your membership requires a 60-day written notice of cancellation (I am happy to send a copy of the form you signed when you joined that has this requirement outlined if you would like). However, because you have been a long-standing customer, we waived that and processed right away at your request. The payment processing center does not process same day. It can take up to 10 days or more and this is what happened in your case. With a written notice, this delay is not an issue, but because your cancellation was only 6 days before the payment, we were unable to intercept it. We agree that your membership has been active since 2010. What was communicated to you is that without the full notice, customers are generally obligated to pay out the remainder of the year they are in. However, again, we waived that due to your longevity with us. It concerns me that you state we did not do any service. I see that we performed bi-annual maintenance every year, with only 2 exceptions prior to this year when you did not schedule an appointment. You also received Air Duct Cleaning and the installation of a new system. During these years, the bi-annual maintenance has been performed at no charge and you have received discounts on other services provided. While we hate to see you go, we do wish you well and we thank you for using McAfee for all of these many services through the years.Review fromStephen S.

1 starI had them over to do my fall checkup told me my heat exchanger was cracked they recommended replacing unit after 2nd opinion from another company i agreed. Bought a new complete system mine was 16 years old, the one I had before that was 51 years old what junk they build now back to the story after installation I was informed the heat exchanger was under warranty so I could have fixed it for 1000.00 but spending 12000.00 was better glad they gave me options. They had a clerical error on their part by calling and leaving a message on the wrong number so I guess that was my fault but I did get a over priced more efficient system that probably won't last 15 years so horaay for me. They did offer to clean my air ducts to make up for the clerical error Thanks McAfee I looking forward to doing business with you in the future. I don't recommend using themReview fromWilliam Bailey

1 starHad my HVAC ducking cleaned in March of 2022. Not Cheap, but I figure you get what you pay for. I could not have been more wrong. Mcafee tech cut large holes just above the Heating elements to supposedly clean the ducking. When the weather got cold enough to turn the heat on in October, my heater would not work. I removed the cover Mcafee put over the hole they cut out just above the heating elements and found pennies and nails laying across the heating elements causing the elements to short out and break thous leaving me with no heat. I called Mcafee and sent pictures of the debris left behind on the heating elements. McAfee told me that the debris had to be from use of the A/C from March to October. McAfee wanted to charge me $89 for a Service fee to come check out what happened to the heater, totally disregarding their mistake on cleaning out the debris they caused to land on the heating elements. Do Not waste your money on a company that don't backup their services. McAfee, Never again. The least McAfee could do is refund the money spent on the Duck Cleaning to cover the cost of replacing the Heating Elements. McAfee = Bad Business.
