Grubbs Automotive installed a remanufactured transmission into my son's 2015 Ford Escape. He picked it up on June 16, and less than 100 miles later, the driver's side front CV joint failed (a part that was uninstalled and reinstalled during the transmission swap). I contacted Grubbs, told them the CV joint had failed and they responded with "What's the address where the vehicle is currently?" They picked up the car in Columbus and took it back to their shop in Logan, we assumed to make good on the repair. Instead, we got a $1,000 estimate ($795.75 + $200 tow) which included rear brakes and CV joint replacement at retail. When he picked up the car on June 16, they told my son the rear brakes would need to be replaced soon but nothing urgent, less than 100 miles later, they said the rear brakes were "metal-on-metal." I finally got the car this past weekend - it doesn't need rear brakes AT ALL (it won't need rear brakes 3 years from now) as there is 8mm left on the outer pads and 10mm left on the inner pads. Since there was no way to PROVE that the CV joint boot got damaged during the uninstall or reinstall, I offered to split the cost and pay for the part if Grubbs would cover the replacement, which they weren't interested in. It also seems like a less than ethical business practice to say you are charging for a tow only after the car has been towed an hour away. As I asked numerous times without an answer, if I am just paying retail for a CV joint replacement, why would I knowingly pay $200 to have it towed an hour away with that added inconvenience? So besides the surprise towing charge and the rear brakes scam, they also neglected to return the splined socket for the locking lug nuts so I had to buy a new one. I tried contacting them by text, email, and telephone without any response. I would like a $210 refund ($200 towing cost + $10.00 replacement splined socket).

3 times to the shop and the car is still leaking oil that they said was fixed.
