    I would ditto Valerie's experience. We paid for work to be done outside and the kitchen inside. We gave down payments for both. After that we were to pay on a line item basis. When the task got completed, he would get paid. Some tasks took longer than he expected and ask for advances to start the next item. After several tasks did not complete and he was still coming back for more money, I finally said no more until some tasks get completed. So he packed up and left us with no kitchen floor, counter tops or back splash. The sink and dishwasher not reset, trim and finish work incomplete, etc. He not only left with thousands of dollar paid for work not done, he took the floor, counter tops and backsplash that was paid for in the down deposit. Outside work the same, took money and never did the work. He later put a lien on our house for money still listed on the contract even though they were never done! Even though he was also paid for work not done! Gets better! He removed a wall that had our vents going to the upstairs of the HVAC. He said he was a licensed HVAC guy and he had a plan. Well he left before this plan was put into action, so we hired a HVAC company to fix his mess and they left saying they would not work on it until we get an electrician in to fix Malibu's wiring that was against code and a fire hazard! You have been warned, stay away from him, he is not honest at best

    On September 2, 2022, I contacted Malibu Masonry (Robert, Owner) to get an estimate to repair concrete stairs and a crack in my garage. At that time he also suggested that I demo the patio floor since it was cracked. After I agreed to have the work done, I paid him over a thousand dollars in cash (he was referred to me by a friend, so I had confidence that he would return).
    He suggested I pay him in cash since he did not accept credit cards. After we signed the agreement he told me he would be back and to be patient but he did not give me a start date. After several weeks of not hearing from him I followed up with a call, needless to say, the conversation did not go very well.
    As of November 2, 2022, he still has not started the work at my home. I've called him several times but he will not commit to a start date. He said he has other jobs, and I don't understand the business. When I asked for a refund he refused to reimburse me saying I had three days to cancel the contract and didn't. If I would have known he would have resorted to this I would not have paid him in cash or contracted him for his services.
    If this is how he treats his customers I don't know how he stays in business.

    customer signed and agreed to a contract with a deposit and a signature. Client was told at that time that we would perform her project in between our larger projects as a fill in. Malibu is able and willing to do the project when it comes up on the schedule. It is very difficult to pinpoint an exact date due to weather conditions, and while performing projects we always run into situations that require more attention or extra work. It occurs all of the time, putting new work farther back in the schedule. I have tried many times to explain this to her. Her accusations are not warranted. She was a referral from another satisfied client. She was told that when she comes up in the schedule we would notify her as when we would start. The 3 day rescission is clearly in view on the contract, that client read and signed and paid the deposit to perform the said work.

    I know there will not be any resolution to this matter, if I have to rely on his honesty. I am not a person who goes back and forth with an issue when I know I'm dealing with a untruthful person. Furthermore, the customer who referred me to him didn't know him but referred him due to work he performed at their home. Later, after I told them the problem I was having, they told me they had to pay him more so that he would finish the job although, they believed he had over charged them. So why would they referred him to me? His actions are unethical and he has no concern or respect for hard-working people. Lastly, he lied he did not give me a start date, but told me to be patient and he would get to me when he could. When I did speak with him and ask him for a start date he said he couldn't give me one but in his response he claims that he put 11/7 on the agreement, well today is November 10th, and he has not started or called to let me know when he will. I must admit I am so disgusted with him and his unethical practice. But I will not continue to let him disrupt my life.
