My entire tree lawn was severely damaged by trucks parked on it while this company was/is doing work two houses away from me. City of Mentor Codified Ordinances state, “In residential districts, motor vehicles must be parked on an improved surface. Improved surfaces are those constructed of concrete, asphalt or permeable pavers, without excess weeds or grass.”
The company is now refusing to fix the damage, and the person on the phone called me a ****.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/11/2025

    Dear Better Business Bureau,
This letter is in response to the complaint filed by the resident at **** **** *** ****** OH 44060 regarding alleged damage to their tree lawn during a driveway replacement we performed at **** **** ave, two houses away. We take all complaints seriously and would like to provide our account of the situation.
We acknowledge that during the course of our work, one of our trucks inadvertently made a small mark, approximately 5 to 6 inches in size, on the very edge of the tree lawn at 7347 **** ave . This occurred as our vehicle was maneuvering in the residential area to access the property where we were performing the contracted work.
Upon being made aware of this, we promptly apologized to the resident and offered to repair the minor damage. We understand the resident was understandably concerned. However, the subsequent interactions became increasingly difficult. The resident engaged in repeated verbal abuse towards our team members, including swearing at multiple individuals on multiple occasions. She also contacted our office via telephone approximately five times, often in a highly agitated state. Due to the escalating and disruptive nature of these interactions, we regrettably had to contact the police on two separate occasions to manage the situation.
Despite the challenging circumstances, we proceeded to repair the affected area of the tree lawn. Our team raked the area smooth and added a small amount of topsoil in preparation for seeding. We believe this addressed the minimal impact caused by our vehicle.
It is also worth noting that following our repair efforts, the area was subsequently driven over by vehicles from Amazon, FedEx, and even a City of Mentor inspector, none of whom raised any concerns about the condition of the tree lawn. We believe this indicates that the repair was sufficient and that only the addition of seed is needed for full restoration.
Regarding the serious allegation that one of our representatives used offensive language, we want to state unequivocally that such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our company. We take this accusation very seriously and will be looking into this matter further.
In conclusion, while we acknowledge the initial minor impact on the edge of the resident's tree lawn, we believe we took immediate steps to apologize and rectify the situation. We are disappointed by the subsequent interactions and the escalation of the situation by the neighbor. We remain committed to resolving this amicably and believe our repair efforts have adequately addressed the minimal damage caused. We are open to discussing the provision of a small amount of grass seed to fully complete the restoration.
Thank you for your time and consideration of our response.

    Customer Answer

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

The company DID cause the damage to the tree lawn. The damage includes a deep tire track, which obliterated the grass that had been growing there. That deep crevice needs to be filled in and a SUBSTANTIAL amount of grass seed planted. The damage had been done before 7:45 a.m. in the morning and did not an involve any other vehicle(s) other than the heavy truck belonging to JT’s Concrete. I called the police, and the company was told to repair the damage by Monday morning, April 14, 2025. I was NOT contacted by the Mentor Police after speaking with them ONE time after I called them on Friday morning, March 11. JT’s Concrete is LYING about subsequent calls to the police as I was NEVER contacted. If they had initially offered to REPAIR the damage THEY caused and given me their business card as requested when I first talked to them when this damage occurred rather than DENYING it, I would not have become upset at their actions.

I want the damage to repaired PROMPTLY and PROPERLY. If that does not happen, I will take further action until they do repair the damage they caused to my property. I will also file a complaint with the City of Mentor with the hope of having them removed from the city’s list of approved contractors.

    Regards,

I refuse to back and forth with this. Ask Mentor police who called and how many times. The city of mentor building dept advised us to call the police the second time on her. From the pictures she posted that was the extent of the damage. Very minimal and the repair was made. She had left for work when the other delivery vehicles made the same damage. We also have video of the tracks they made. This will be my last response to this complete nonsense.

No repair had been made nor grass seed planted. The company had been ordered by Mentor Police on 4/11/2025 to repair the damage to my tree lawn. The owner of the company was also asked  to do so by the City of Mentor.

My initial phone call to the company on 4/11/2025 to confirm that the damage would be repaired was met with rudeness, insults, and untruths.

The owner, even though he doesn’t want to go “back and forth on this,” damaged my property with his trucks and has refused to repair it. Is a contractor supposed to be allowed to cause damage to another property near their worksite and simply leave and not rectify it?

Do I need to have a landscaper fix this and send the bill to JT’s Concrete? Better Business Bureau, please help to resolve this. I would not have even contacted you but for the disgraceful way I have been treated.

    Regards,
