The pictures online made the place seem nicer than it really is. The decor is fine, if not a bit cheap. What is really disappointing is the lack of options available during the week. The free breakfast was one small dish of a casserole and some fruit and pre packaged oatmeal. The food form the pub was definitely premade and reheated. The owner claims it was made fresh but if that was the case then our soup and chili were never heated to a food safe temperature.Everything just felt like the minimal amount of money was put into it. The common areas were cold, as fire places remained unlit even when it was snowing outside. Also it snowed about an inch on our last night/morning and the driveway was never plowed or salted. We were told that when we leave we should take a side road as the main driveway was too narrow for cars to pass. This road was also unplowed and caused us to almost drive off the side of a hill. We then got stuck going back up a hill. I ultimately had to walk back up to the castle in order to call a tow truck to pull us out. When we broufht this to the attention of the owner he basically told us it was our fault, that where we got stuck was not on his property (if this is true or not the only reason we went that wat was because we had been told to by his staff). Also I see now that they are not accredited with BBB but they did have a BBB sign hanging in their office.

********,As I mentioned in my email to your wife and in my response to your other online review, I was sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your stay at Ravenwood. For the benefit of those who haven't read your other review or my response to it, our breakfast is not as you described, but includes a hot breakfast dish (a casserole the day you stayed), muffins, yogurts, fruits and cereals. Additional breakfast options are also available to be ordered ala cart. Our pub food is not reheated, and is cooked to the appropriate temperature. The fireplaces in the common area are on thermostats, and came on and off multiple times throughout your stay - and can be turned completely on if desired for ambiance or additional heat. Finally, our driveway and parking lot are absolutely plowed and treated, multiple times per day if necessary such as during the snowy weather which happened during your stay.Given our emails and your other review, I think it is safe to say that your primary issue was the unfortunate incident you experienced on your drive home, where you were unable to make it up a hill in your vehicle and required the services of a tow truck. As I mentioned in all of my responses to you and your wife, I was truly sorry to hear about the incident, as sliding off the road in snowy conditions is certainly not an enjoyable way to end a vacation. That being said, the incident had nothing to do with Ravenwood Castle, and was not something over which we had any ********** be perfectly clear, we provided you with instructions to safely exit our driveway without posing a risk to either yourself, other guests or staff. You followed those instructions and successfully exited the property onto the public roadways. Your difficulties were on a county road, in your personal vehicle, which you were operating. You claim that you "only went that way" because we told you to, but that is not the case. Our instructions ended at the end of the driveway, where you had multiple routes and options available to you on the public roads.Whether you choose to believe it or not, I truly am sorry that you experienced this issue. I never told you 'it was your fault' as you claim here. It seems to me that this was an unfortunate accident caused by a snow storm in January in rural central ****. Whether you choose to look at it as such, or to take personal responsibility, is up to you. I will not however allow you to place the blame on Ravenwood Castle for something over which we had absolutely no ********** for the BBB sign in the gift shop, thank you for bringing that to our attention. We were at one point accredited by the Better Business Bureau, but no longer are as we chose not to renew the annual subscription. We missed the sign in the gift shop, but have subsequently removed it.
