    On 10/31/24 I was contacted by Stuf (Storage) and informed they would be raising my rent by over 96% in 30 days! In my research, such a stark increase in rent, with a corresponding decrease in service (see below) is in violation of CA Business Professions Code sections 21700-21716 which guards against excessive or unreasonable rent increases.

    In addition to the increased cost, physical security was removed from the premises without notice and the elevator has been down approximately 30% of the time I have attempted to contact the unit, leading to either the unit being hard to access or the occasional total lockout from the unit on weekends. After calling to inquire, I was informed that the elevator is down and will need to be replaced.

    In essence, the company lured me in with a false rate (this was not a promotional rate) and now is attempted to extort me by doubling my rent and not providing me the working elevator needed to move out of the unit without multiple flights of stairs by hand.

    I request to find middle ground by offering a 25% monthly rent increase, far beyond that of inflation or year over year CapX increases. I have attempted to contact the company 7 times. Each time I am told a manager will call me back, but they have never called me back. I continue to seek resolution.

    I will also remove all online reviews posted about the company sharing this story if we find resolution. Thank you.
