I bought a used truck. I walked around it and asked what is wrong with it and they said it runs good. I checked it out and they acted like nothing was wrong. Right before I got on the highway to go home with the truck I decided to check the oil to make sure the level is good and I pulled it out and The dipstick was completely rusted in half, and there was a hole in the dipstick tube that was rusted through. They said all the fluids have been checked. So right now my heart is in my gut and I feel sick to my stomach that dealerships can just do that. I am just looking for my money back and they take back the truck. I called the dealership and explain to them the issue and they just got very upset. Did not want to hear it and ultimately hung up.

Mr. Just purchased this truck after an extensive time both test driving and examining the truck.

He negotiated several times and was given not only a steep drop in price but we also gave him a snow plow.

At no time did he mention anything about the dipstick

After fully and thoroughly inspecting and test driving the truck he agreed to purchase it AS IS with no warranty.

Having saved thousands of dollars on his purchase I find it odd that he is claiming a broken dipstick which if true, is a very minor repair.

Having bought the truck AS IS he if fully responsible for any and all repairs.

1 We do guarantee approval and the customer was indeed approved

2 We do not guarantee that the customers credit rating is strong enough to get the rates shown in the calculator. If you read the notes it says that these figures are only if the customers credit rating fulfills requirements. Approved credit means the credit must fulfill a minimum to receive rates shown

3 This customers credit rating did not fill the requirements as stated in the ad

Hence we did approve him but he did not have the requisite down-payment needed

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they are still trying to sell this car based on financing and not on buy here pay here as I requested. The buy here price for down payment is 1300 not 5000.

      Sincerely,

Purchased 2012 Malibu from dealership in March for $11,000. Company financed car and down payment of $1500 was paid. Before the first payment was even due, car broke down. There are many problems with the car such as wheel bearings, rotors, brakes, tires, AVS light on, engine light on. Company has the car. It was not purchased as-is. Company wants consumer to pay for repairs in order to get the car back. Consumer wants out of this car, money returned. This is a hardship, as of now, no car, no money for repairs plus car payments.

The car was not financed so she will not be getting the car back. She had the car for a couple months without a payment and never got it financed.

2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 purchased 12/02/2022 for $13,641.43. Coming from out of town and almost to the lot, the salesman ***** **** informed me of the windshield being cracked but that the vehicle had no other issues and had been looked over by their mechanics. Driving back home it was discovered that the cruise control was not functioning and the bed of the truck was shaking considerably. Brought the truck to a local shop and was informed the bed was rusted out from the framing and not repairable. Reached out to the lot about help with replacement or refund and was told this is what happens when you buy "as-is", rudely refused a refund and stated this was not their problem. Stated they would look at it to determine if they felt anything was actually wrong. Did not want to drive back to the lot from two hours away for "maybe we will help" Customer Service Rep said that they will look at it but decide from there whether or not they would help and said the only help they would consider is repairing it themselves. I have no trust in their offer to "repair" this truck because they are not qualified to do so and has already been deemed by a professional body shop as unrepairable. They are not a body shop / mechanic. They did not catch this issue to begin with or they actively chose not to disclose or address it. This is not a resolution. Purchased this "as-is" what they described/ disclosed. This vehicle was purchased to accommodate side work as I am a plumbing contractor in the state of Indiana. A full sized pick up truck with rusted out, unsecure bed serves nothing for me. $13,641.43 is not reasonable given a local body shop quoted 10,520.47 to replace the bed and restore it to safe, working order. Replaced the windshield, got an oil change and fixed the cruise control. I have been more than willing to cooperate and take ownership of my purchase but this is out of line.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 01/03/2023

The consumer informed BBB that he is willing to accept $5,000 to settle the matter.  He is tired of not having a working vehicle to drive.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/12/2023

The customer was told before, during, and after the sale that an as-is purchase means that there is no warranty and that the customer is completely responsible for any and all repairs to the vehicle after purchase.

The customer was given every opportunity to test drive and inspect the vehicle and chose to purchase.

Lastly, we offered at our own expense to check out the vehicle to see if there was anything we would be able to do to help out the customer and the customer refused, stating it was too far to bring it to us.
