I had a house fire on Nov10 22. Dec 5 I was given contact information for Jesse M******** owner of JRremodeling to come give me a quote for restoration of my home at *** ****** *** ***** ****. The contractor was a referral from my realtor she told me he would give me a fair price and do a good job. By December 9th I received estimates through email and verbally stating that Jesse could do the fire repairs for 25k including labor and materials. Jesse told me the price but I told him I would not sign the contract until he gave exact details of repairs of home. I specifically asked because my insurance adjuster needed details to compare the scope of work. Jesse never made modifications as he said he would that day but in need of time I proceeded to give him half of the 25k, 12,500, to allow for materials to be ordered and purchased. Jesse started working in my home on Dec 19, 22. The work that he began with was upstairs on the 3rd floor and downstairs on my middle level removing old flooring. But the Fire started in my basement behind the dryer. For a couple weeks I often asked Jesse why he had not gotten the power restored from the fire. no heat or electricity. Jesse and his sons were only working during the day doing minimal work, cosmetic work: painting, removing old flooring. Jesse made comments about letting him know who would be coming to my home and when because he did not want random pop ins. Myself and my father ******* ****** would often come by to make sure things were running smoothly but he did not like that. Jesse removed my key from the lockbox so I didn’t have access.Jan 5, 23 he told me someone stole his generator but it was no forced entry. Later someone stole my furnace too but no forced entry. Throughout Jan into Feb and several no shows it seemed as if I was being scammed. He had not completed application to pull permits through city and told me he was done working demanding payment in full.
