GOAT roofing was supposed to replace my roof, flashing, valley's, vent caps, skylight, gutters and down spouts. ALL flashing, valley's, drip edge, gutters and down spouts were copper and the insurance paid for copper. The original copper gutters never worked well so i requested 6" aluminum gutters which cost much less and work better. They never gave me back the difference in price. They were also paid to paint the new gutters but the new gutters are manufactured pre-painted. They kept that money. They were paid to install a new skylight and did not and kept that money, they were paid to reinstall my weathervane and flashing over the turret window and they did not. The shingles installed on the turret are crooked and sloping down hill. They installed a brand new but bent up vent cap. Reinstalled the old gas vent cap but were paid to install a new one. and much more,,,Business Response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
We appreciate the opportunity to address Mr. ****** concerns regarding the work performed by GOAT Roofing and Restoration. While we take all customer complaints seriously, we would like to clarify several key points that were omitted from Mr. ****** complaint.
1. Project Costs and Payments
Mr. ***** suggests that we kept money for certain items, but this is not accurate. The total cost of the project exceeded $50,000, and to date, we have only received approximately half of that amount. GOAT Roofing has not been fully compensated for the materials, labor, and services provided.
2. Material and Labor Cost Differences
While there was a cost difference in materials such as the decision to install 6 aluminum gutters instead of copper it is important to note that there was also a significant difference in labor costs.
Insurance did not pay for the flat roofing work that was completed.
Insurance did not pay for step flashing or counter flashing, both of which were necessary to complete the job properly.
The work performed was beyond what insurance initially accounted for, meaning that while material costs were lower in some areas, additional labor and installation costs offset these differences.
I personally tried to explain these details to Mr. ***** during my visit on February 4, 2025, but instead of having a constructive conversation, he became irate, refused to listen, and ultimately escalated the situation to physical assault. I was forced to file a police report documenting this incident, which I can provide if necessary.
3. Work Completed and Remaining ItemsGutters & Painting: Mr. ***** requested pre-painted aluminum gutters, which eliminated the need for painting. The insurance estimate included painting, but since that step was unnecessary, no additional painting was done.
Skylight: The installation of a new skylight was included in the scope and would have been completed had Mr. ***** allowed us to continue the work.
Shingle Installation on Turret: We installed the shingles following industry standards. If there are concerns about alignment, we would have been happy to discuss this under normal circumstances.
4. Next Steps
GOAT Roofing has always been willing to resolve customer concerns professionally, but given the circumstances including the outstanding balance and physical aggression has effected our ability to complete the project to Mr. ****** satisfaction has been severely impacted.
We remain open to a professional resolution and encourage Mr. ***** to communicate through appropriate channels should he wish to move forward in good faith.
Sincerely,
****** *****

Complaint: 22900199
I am rejecting this response because: He is stating lies about industry standard installation as they installed standard shingles on a turret which calls for special made turret shingles. He is being slanderous in stating he was assulted unless you call telling him to leave because he became loud and threatening, and yes, I made a police report regarding his threatening demeanor. The installation of copper gutter is way more labor intensive as soldering is involved in copper and not in aluminum. The only thing that would make the aluminum installation cost more is the fact that GOAT roofing installed drip edge over the existing gutter hangers instead of removing the hangers and installing the drip edge properly. This created more work for the gutter installers and they had to bed up my new drip edge to allow for proper gutter installation. This is noted with pictures. He has failed to provide a proper scope of work and contract from before the installation began and did not even address this in his response.
They have previously tried to adjust the shingles on the turret when the installer explainer he could not make the square straight shingles fit the round turret. I took it upon myself to consult another roofing company about the project and after they stopped laughing, they said no wonder, you have to premeasure the turret and provide the measurements and angles of the turret to the manufacture which will them produce the appropriate shingle for the job.
Having many chances, they have yet to explain why they were going to take the copper that was removed from the house under false pretenses. ****** says ****** told him to and ****** claims he knows nothing about it.
I want the work done properly.
I do NOT want some arrogant owner coming to my house raising his voice at me and asking me what my problem is as soon as he walks in the door.
I want GOAT to get paid by the insurance company exactly what they are owed for and NOTHING more.
I have since this complaint provided ****** with a formal complaint letter in which he says he will respond in writing.
Regards,
******* *****Business Response

We contracted with GOAT Roofing to replace our roof. After the job water was flowing off the roof and missing the gutter which caused significant damage to our entryway and entry flooring. They volunteered to replace the gutters in the front of the home to resolve the issue.
Now we have a similar issue on the back corner of our home. Water should be flowing into the gutter but instead it is missing the gutter and flowing off the corner of the home and into the yard. I reached out to the company and the owner (Warren) agreed to meet me at the home to review the issue. Warren no showed on the first appointment and I had to call and schedule a second appointment. He again no showed the second appointment and is now telling me that the problem was not their issue and he refused to do anything to try and resolve the problem.
I've replaced the roof on every home I've owned and have never had a business refuse to try and address an issue.Business Response

*******,
When you were referred to us your roof was approved for repairs only. We got you a full roof replacement through your insurance except your Insurance did NOT approve your gutters. Your gutters were not tight enough to the fascia so water was going in between them (I attached a photo) When you called us with the problem you were having with the gutters on the front of your house we fixed it because you were referred by a family friend. It had nothing to do with the work we did. When you called again saying it took us too long to replace those gutters that again had nothing to do with the work we did. We agreed to cover half the cost of the subfloor you had to fix. Since the issue was resolved on the front It looks like you just need new gutters. Which we told you back in May. I am sorry your having this problem but your insurance did not pay us to replace your gutters or fascia they only paid us to replace the roof which we did.

Attached is a before photo of the roof showing a piece that routed water from the roof into the gutter. When GOAT replaced the roof, they failed to replace this piece to route the water. Because they did not add this piece on the repair it is causing water issues which we are requested they resolve. I did get a quote from a 3rd party gutter company and the repair is $245.00. I would ask that GOAT cover that cost due to their error and not replacing this piece.

BBB took a complaint over the phone. Below is the voice to text voicemail description
Hi, my name is ****** ******. I'm calling in regards to case ********* It is with Goat Roofing Restoration. We paid them almost $55 ,000 and they have not completed the job. They did the screen house, put the screens back in, but the cheapest that they could. The other $2 ,000 I think were entitled to because it was given to us. We did not know the insurance company. We had to give them that money. They also have not completed the work. So I'll either like the money back, the work completed, something done about this. My mom is 81 years old and I don't feel she should be took by no roofing company. You can contact me at ###-###-####. I have all the paperwork and all the pay stubs where they were paid. The case is not closed. It's open to the mortgage company and the insurance company, and they refuse that right to try to make things right with me or talk to me.Business Response

I have reviewed the workscope from ********* and all line items on the scope of work were completed except line item 40 which was the patio cover. We refunded the amount back to you on August 30,2024. One of the senior project managers (****** *****) went out to the ******** residence and looked over the work completed. Everything is done to industry standards. If you're unhappy with the screens I can come look at them but we put back up the same kind of screens you previously had.
