Called on or about 12/11/23, explained what I was doing with truck. They told me which kit I would need so I bought Clutch Kit with bell housing and fly wheel from Quick Draw Brand in the amount of $1,445.26. On my bank statement, it shows it was paid to **** ********* ***. On February 29, 2024 around 4:06 pm, a message was submitted via their website regarding KIT: ******** advising that the clutch fork couldn’t be adjusted to the right specifications without raising the pivot ball more than necessary. Also advised that with all 9 washers provided in the kit, the measurement was 1/16th of an inch when what is required is 5/8-3/4 inch. On 3/1/24 around 9:28 am, Chad M******* requested pictures of the slave cylinder hole with the fork and advised if the measurement was roughly .6” it was perfect. On 3/1/24 around 1:09 pm, we provided 5 pictures showing the measurements and the wrong transmission bolts. A follow-up email was sent on 3/5/24 around 7:45 am because no email had been received confirming receipt of the pictures.
On 3/6/24 around 11:33 am, Chad M******* emailed asking which throw out bearing did I have.
On 3/6/24 around 3:59 pm, the throw out bearing picture was emailed along with a note stating that when the pivot ball retainer is tightened, the fork will fall off of the pivot ball. On 3/8/24 around 8:36 am, Chad M******* emailed that he would look into the pivot ball retainer. He also requested pictures of where I was measuring from and what number I was getting. He confirmed that was the correct throw out bearing. On 3/8/24 around 10:38 am, I emailed that the measurement was from the edge of the fork to the outer edge of the bell housing and that measurement was 1 1/8 inch along with the picture. The rest is on the attachment.

    Communication was poor.
The above items were not dispatched until after Christmas 2021.
The adaptors supplied needed significant modification to be usable. As supplied they were not fit for purpose.
The supplied clutch was not rated to the output required as specified in our requirements discussion prior to sale.
The adaptor "TR4050-LT230" has failed in use, having snapped in half.
This left me without the use of my vehicle for the last 34 days and a row fee of $150aud.
Having investigated with experts in the field we have established that the material and design of the adapter is unsuitable for the requirement.

    Regarding this complaint.

As you are aware, you had approached Quick Draw Brand to
build this kit for your Perentie.  We
agreed it could be made with the understanding that our part of the process
would be to combine an Isuzu 3.9 diesel engine to a Tremec TR4050 as well as
marry the TR4050 to a Land Rover LT230 Transfer Case.  Quick Draw and yourself were both on the same
page that you were going to be the test subject to make sure everything
fit.  As you live in Australia, this made
it a bit harder as we did not have a truck here to actually fit this up
to.  We already had frame mounts for the Defender
kit and after discussing with you it was agreed you would buy them and see if
they would fit the Perentie.  It was
understood by both parties that modifications may need made.

I have spoke with your expert this morning, 12/15/22, and he
confirmed that 3 other kits in Australia are working without issue, he has a 4th kit on his own Perentie in California.  He in fact helped install all 3 kits in their shop, as well as found you
a clutch to handle your additional horse power that stock Perentie trucks would
not have.  Your expert was Quick Draw
Brands go to for design of this kit and it was his recommendation to use the
clutch we provided.  Your truck is highly
modified, which is why we believe you are experiencing these problems.

A box of replacement parts will be sent via UPS today.  Hopefully there will not be any further
    problems.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

    Hi ****

You are correct I did approach Quick Draw Brand to build this kit for MY Perentie. My modified, blueprint engine, rock crawling, mud bashing land rover Perentie.
We agreed it could be made with the understanding that your experience and expertise would be employed to combine a modified Australian army spec Isuzu 3.9 diesel engine to a Tremec TR4050 as well as marry the TR4050 to a Land Rover LT230 Transfer Case (something you already had that designed) and mounts to suit a Landrover 110 (also designed).
It is agreed that Quick Draw and myself were both on the same page that I would be the test subject to make sure everything fit.  However..communication became very broken. Multiple attempts to maintain clear communication via video and photographic means was initially referenced by yourself, but quickly ignored during the development process that was over 12 months long. Once I took delivery of the kit and installed it I provided  feedback that was both negative and positive. I agree it was understood by both parties that modifications to the mounts may need to be made. However I had other issues such as the water ingress points to the bellhousing (the original bellhousing being a sealed design due to the wet nature of the Australian outback).
I brought this to your attention and provided a possible solution to one water entry point. I was shocked when you told me you didn't see a problem when you said "don't you just want to drive this around and look cool?" No. I drive my Landrover hard off-road in an unforgiving and extreme environment. These are not status symbol cars in Australia. So even though I was the test subject and brought up issues relating to water ingress, no revisions have been made.

In regards to "my expert" , namely my friend ******* who lives in California, at the time of your speaking, yes, 3 kits are indeed functioning at this stage in New South Wales. However, the business that fits them is seeking a future replacement adapter shaft, worried after my failure and research that their customers are at the same risk.
****** does not have your kit installed in California. He saw mine brake, and decided to move in another direction.
    With reference to the clutch.
The design of your bellhousing is restrictive in its shape and design, water ingress points aside, no other clutch easily fits. I repeatedly told you the power my engine makes, being a 4cyl diesel it is rough on that power delivery.  Rightly said this kit was for my Perentie, however I recall you saying yourself that you "googled my vehicle" and chose to base your clutch kit on the stock specifications. This kit was for my modified Perentie. It is not up to the task. I quote you:

"Your expert was Quick Draw Brands go to for the design of this kit and it was his recommendation to use the clutch we provided.  Your truck is highly modified, which is why we believe you are experiencing these problems."

    With reference to the above.
You were aware of the modification.
****** supplied the flywheel housing for your r&d.
Any further support should have been sought from myself, or from a reputable expert in the field such as a technical advisor from ****** Clutches.
Having spoken to **** "Mr ******" ***** of McLeod he laments the supplied clutch is at its limit even on an unmodified Isuzu 4bd1 engine.

I have reached out locally to MR Automotive of Queensland who have experience with 4x4 custom axle shafts and differential components. The below is from an email with the director:

"My first impressions are that it (the adaptor shaft) was made from an incorrect grade of steel if it was *****

That is a case hardening steel and if it was hardened to 80 Rockwell it would be brittle. A better material would be **** or *****"
    Warren S

    Director
    M R Automotives Pty Ltd

**** at Ashcroft in the UK has agreed with the above.

The final point I would like to make relating to the inadequate nature of the adaptor is that standard Landrover axles are widely known to fail when running tyre sizes at or over 35in tall.
I was aware of this when I installed 35in tyres. After a day of hard wheeling with my son, what should fail? Not my weak rear axles, but the adapter built by quickdraw, "affordable overbuilt parts you can count on" this is a quote from your Instagram. It is the page that led me to your service.

We are incredibly lucky that the shaft sheared on the highway post off-road driving. Had it failed while we were on the monkey gum trail, a double black diamond trail. The situation would have become dire, our lives at risk at the worst or the incredibly steep sections of trail, and our vehicle unrecoverable at the least. This failure represents a TOTAL loss of drive. Something I have never experienced in my years of off-road driving and racing.

I have no bad feelings for **** or the company. Only an expectation to continue clear communication and receive what we agreed on and I paid for, Or be refunded the purchase price of the below to help pay for local solutions to the below issues:

A revised MK2 bellhousing with more room to accommodate a deeper clutch, without water ingress holes.
An updated off road compliant clutch that handles min 800nm output torque.
An adaptor shaft design that will not be the vehicle's weakest link.

I offer that the ten spline input gear of the lt230 is a troubled design. Engineering tells us that more spline teeth offer a higher resistance to shear type  failure. The original lt95 does not shear. I had my modified engine running a stock lt95 gearbox and the only issue was a damaged synchro.

If a stronger 10 spline adaptor shaft cannot be supplied, Perhaps a 32 tooth output shaft spline mated to an lt230 input gear modified with matching teeth? Or a custom gear with a long snout to accept the tr4050 output spline directly?

Working together we can make this the ultimate isuzu Landrover off-road gearbox solution.

I am keen to continue as the test and development partner I thought we agreed I was.
