The experience we had with US Interstate & Rail was horrific. My mother moved from CT to VA to be closer to me in VA. We received an original quote for $2219.05 and paid it. The agreement was also for them to store her belongings for a month. On move day, when we had no choice, they changed the estimate to $8059.21 and we were required to pay the difference. That is not even the worst part. The movers were rude, forced her to leave some of her belongings in CT- stating there was no room in the truck, when there was. When her belongings got to VA, an employee, ***, called and said they were delivering her belongings rather than storing them. He was extremely rude and it ended in a screaming match and they finally stored her belongings. They COMPLETELY DESTROYED her things and it WAS intentional. Legs were kicked off her furniture- wood split off. It looked like a foot went through the back of her dresser. Her filing cabinet was in pieces, all of her furniture was nicked and damaged. Many of her belongings were not even delivered to include 2 rugs, a floor lamp and a queen size down comforter. Due to the circumstances of my mother’s move, her belongings stayed in storage for more than a year and a half. Therefore, we did not know the extent of the damage in losses of this move. Furthermore, in order to file a complaint the company, we need detailed pictures and receipts of all of her damage furniture. Some of these things, my mother has had for a very long time and she no longer has the receipts. We never filed a claim with the company because we were unaware of all they have done. We did not file a complaint with the BBB because we did not know the damage.

Please note- there is not enough MB to attach more than 2 photos to this complaint. This is not full documentation.

    On
6/27/23, we (myself and my mother, ********* *****- senior citizen, person
    being moved)signed a contract with ***** ********** ******* LLC. They turned
out to be a third-party and gave our job to interstate and rail. The move with
interstate and rail occurred on 7/28/23. Interstate and rail stored my mother’s
property for one month free of charge. Then another private subcontractor named
***** moved our things to a storage unit in ******* **** on 8/26/23. The
property was stored at the storage unit in ******* **** for the duration of the
time and we paid monthly rent. I have documentation from ready relocation
experts and the phone number and first name of the man that moved the property
into the storage unit in August.
