My family went through a home emergency resulting in us needing a place to stay. We booked one of Cathy's properties on Airbnb that was listed as pet friendly, touting a "fully fenced backyard oasis." Not only was the tiny strip of grass not fully fenced, but there was nothing friendly about the $100 per pet fee they hit you with after booking. I paid the fee, because my animals are family and I wanted to bring them with me. I was told that my dogs have to be kennelled when we leave or locked in the basement. Luckily I brought kennels with me for my dogs, as there is no way I would've locked them in a basement with AMPLE BLACK MOLD AND A LEAKING PIPE! Upon arriving at the property, there is a huge branch overhanging the driveway that you cannot avoid, which scratched the paint on my husband's truck. The bannister going into the house was rotted wood barely held together by nails not fully driven into the wood. We stepped inside and were immediately hit by the stale smell of marijuana smoke. The "French doors" (as described in the listing) were nothing but a basic slider with a broken screen door. The curtains weren't installed, merely set on top of old mini blind clips. The 60" tv was precariously set on a table that did not fit the base, so I was worried about it falling on my dogs or children. The "state of the art gym" was nothing but a treadmill in the corner, 3 sets of weights on the floor, and a balance ball. After moving my family all in, I go to sit on the bed in the master bedroom to nurse my infant, only to have the whole thing break and shift sideways, causing us to fall to the floor. My husband who is a union carpenter said it was obvious it had been repaired multiple times. We hightailed it first thing in the morning and received a full refund from airbnb, only to have Cathy turn around and demand we pay for her damaged items. What an absolute joke. This is merely another person using short term rentals as a cash grab.
