    I went in to sign up for a gym membership recently as this Anytime Fitness is the only 24/7 gym within 20 minutes of where I currently live. When I went in for my orientation I had an additional group sessions package pushed on my by the employee handling my onboarding. I figured why not, if I don't enjoy it I can cancel it down the line. I was not aware at the time that the group sessions were also a year long contract. To clarify, I wish to keep my general gym access membership, I only want to cancel the group one due to not being able to make it to most of the classes. When I tried to contact them about this (and to schedule my free training sessions they told me were included), they did not respond to me via email or phone. I had to go in person the other day only for the same employee who did my onboarding to tell me that I cannot cancel my group sessions because the contract was for a full year. They also told me that the reason I had not been responded to was because they were on vacation for a week and their Regional Manager was handling everything while they were gone. They also expressed concern that my assigned personal trainer had not contacted me either. They then hastily scheduled a training session with me, presumably to avoid any repercussions. Be it an honest mistake or through intentional actions, I have not been provided the services promised to me, and I do not feel it fair for me to be on the hook for this.
