  We have used Canaan Companies for multiple projects. The most recent one is our home in *********. The home was a major project. Canaan completely gutted the kitchen. Our new kitchen is amazing, beautiful new cupboards, granite countertops, and a tile floor. Jims layout of our new kitchen added multiple new features. We have a center island with waterfall style granite. The island has four large drawers for pots and pans etc, two shallow drawers for multiple cooking utensils. There is also seating for three people. *** repurposed an unused area into a walk in pantry. Love Love our new kitchen. Caanan also repaired drywall and repainted the interior of our home. The colors they choose are beautiful. The improvements and repairs to our home are numerous. The highlights for us are the new kitchen, beautiful paint choices, all new floors, and wrought iron railings replacing our dated wood railings on the catwalk at our entrance. Almost forgot to mention the two new decks one off the kitchen and one over the water. Canaan was very organized on the job site and kept us informed on all projects as they moved forward. Our once dated house is now a beautiful home.

  I recently hired Canaan Companies to remodel my kitchen and bathroom, and I couldnt be happier with the results! From start to finish, their team was professional, courteous, and incredibly skilled. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and executed it beautifully.The kitchen and bathroom remodels are beyond what I imagined the quality of craftsmanship is outstanding, and the attention to detail is evident in every corner. On top of that, Canaan Companies went above and beyond by having their brick specialists, The Brick Guys, restore my hearth and fireplace, which hasn't been repaired in years. ***** provided brick samples to find the perfect match and improved the overall look of my home.Communication was excellent throughout the project, and they stuck to the timeline, completing everything on schedule. I highly recommend Canaan Companies for any remodeling needs their work is top-notch, and they truly care about delivering quality results.Thank you, Canaan Companies, for making my home even more beautiful!

  I've worked with Canaan on a foundation rebuild, a kitchen remodel, and numerous other construction projects. I couldn't be happier with the communication, quality, service, and timely manner! I would highly recommend them as a top-notch Toledo Based Construction Company.

  If your goal is to ruin the look of your beautiful brick home, look no further! The Brick Guys are the most inept "masons" in the Toledo area.
  Jim House, owner of The Canaan Company, stands behind the substandard masons he employs, admitting he has had multiple complaints with his mason crew. Jim House supports selecting the wrong brick and mortar, by hiding behind a clause in his contract that states they'll come as close as possible to matching.
  However, they don't even try to come as close as possible, and when informed that the brick and mortar that was used was completely wrong, he stated and I'll quote "For a three thousand dollar job, I'm not going to spend 3 days researching the correct brick and mortar. I rely on a 3rd party for that." A third party who has never seen the brick home.
  When informed that a better match for both the brick and mortar were found after 10 minutes of research, he states that not all the work that was done was bad, just some of it! Not only will they ruin the appearance of your brick home, his crew of "masons" will also ruin your side walks, driveway, and landscaping stone by coating them with stain, leaving old mortar and brick pieces scattered throughout the landscaping stones. No care was exercised to protect the home or the landscape, no tarp used, and no clean up. Unfortunately this review will not allow me to show the shoddy workmanship, nor the yellow bricks and multiple colors of mortar that now adorns my white brick home.
  
  When Jim House was told that David oversold the ability of his mason crew, Jim House responded by saying, and again I'll quote, "Well, he's not going to under sell a job."
  
  As an business owner, Jim House knowingly sends an inept mason crew out to jobs, knowing their work is subpar and he supports their shoddy workmanship, even refusing to come walk the property to see for himself the damage they caused.
  
  Run, don't walk, from this disaster of a company, unless your goal is to destroy your brick home.

  Regarding the brick and mortar selection, our goal is always to provide the closest match possible, as per our contract. However, we acknowledge that in this instance, the result did not meet your expectations. While we rely on trusted third-party suppliers for material matching, we understand this does not excuse the outcome, and we regret that it fell short of your standards.
  We also apologize for any damage or mess caused to your property during the project. Our crews are expected to exercise care when working on a client’s home, including protecting surrounding areas and completing thorough clean-up afterward. It is clear that we did not meet those expectations in your case, and for that, we sincerely apologize.
  We recognize that there were shortcomings in communication and execution, and we regret that we were unable to fully resolve these concerns to your satisfaction. Our goal is always to stand by our work, and we will be reviewing our internal processes and subcontractor partnerships to ensure better outcomes for future clients.
