My elderly mom contacted Shamy when her 12 year old furnace abruptly stopped pushing out hot air during a cold snap. They came out quickly, which I applaud. However, they told her they could fix it for 3k with no warranty on parts or she could get a brand new furnace for 6k. Of course she went with the new furnace option due to the extreme cold in the forecast. After contemplating this for a few hours, I told her to get a second opinion, so she did and she canceled the new furnace and requested her down payment back, which she received timely. Another company came out and was able to repair the furnace and the total bill was right around $400. I think its fair to conclude Shamy tried to take advantage of an elderly female during an ****** blast. Shame on Shamy!

Dear Customer's son,Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to address the issues surrounding the recent service call for your mother's furnace. Our commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and we want to provide a comprehensive response to your feedback.Firstly, we'd like to acknowledge that we understand you were not present at the service call, and we regret any inconvenience that *** have caused. It's important to provide you with a detailed account of the events that transpired during our assessment and subsequent communication.************** conducted a thorough evaluation of your mother's furnace and discovered a significant issue with the evaporator coil. The coil was severely impacted with pet hair and cigarette smoke, indicating a lack of regular filter maintenance. Due to the unique horizontal configuration of the furnace, gaining access to the coil required not only disassembling the furnace but also removing it entirely. This involved additional complexity and labor. To ensure transparency, ************** performed a video inspection of both the evaporator coil and secondary heat exchanger. This inspection was witnessed by both your mother and brother, providing a visual understanding of the severity of the issue. The technician then explained the necessary steps for the proposed repair, emphasizing the importance of addressing the extensive buildup on the coil.Upon discussing these findings with your mother, she opted to explore the option of replacing the furnace instead of proceeding with the extensive cleaning and repair work. We provided a quote for the furnace replacement, and the decision was made to move forward with the installation. Two days later, we received your cancellation request, and we promptly halted our installation crew as per your instructions. Subsequently, we received an email from you stating that the furnace had been repaired by another company for $400. However, the invoice you provided lacked a detailed description of the work performed, leaving us with doubts about the completeness and correctness of the repair. It's important to note that our temporary repair allowed your mother to have heat temporarily while she considered her options. We also want to emphasize that, until your recent communication, we did not receive any inquiry or request for clarification from you regarding the issues encountered during our service call.We understand the importance of clear communication and customer satisfaction. If you have any further questions or if there are specific details you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact us directly. We value your feedback and aim to address any concerns to ensure a positive resolution.Sincerely,**** *****

Received a coupon in the mail for a furnace tune-up/inspection from this company. Arranged an inspection day and was visited by a technician who put ******** on the receipt I received. He had me running for paper towels, a bucket and a light, but I was hoping to make his job easier. He told me the motor inside was possibly bad, very expensive piece he said. He continued his inspection and said very little, he had an accent which made it difficult to understand him. He said he'd have to get a price on the motor and commented that the flame sensor might also be bad. He went to his truck and came back saying the motor was very expensive, the flame sensor was $297. He said the flame sensor was an important safety item and recommended I replace that. He said he didn't have one on his truck and would have to go after it. He left and returned in about 20 minutes. He brought in the part and it looked very simple to be so expensive. I commented to him that this is a $300 part? He quickly answered that it was for the part and labor and continued his install. It couldn't have taken him any more than 10 minutes to finish. He brought me the paperwork and the $109 inspection ended up costing over $400. He then left and I got online to see what flame sensors cost. I found a page that showed exactly what he installed and they cost anywhere from $8 to $10 dollars! I tried contacting the company to demand a credit to my credit card payment, no response. I tried calling the company owner, and got directed to his voice mail. It's been days since and I've received no call back. Makes me think this is a practice used by this company on a regular basis. I proposed a $250 credit which would allow about $50 for the part and labor, seemed reasonable when I thought it might be just a mistake. It's a bad feeling to be ripped off as a senior, something that seems to happen to many. Your assistance with this is most appreciated.

Shamy is one of the best companies in the Toledo area. Their products are excellent. My furnace lasted 29 years! I had a premium service plan that provided substantial discounts. Amazingly, all the premiums paid were returned to me as a discount on a new HVAC system. The installers were friendly, courteous and competent, as expected from previous experience. Shamy goes beyond expectations to take good care of customers.
