Extremely Frustrating Experience with UToledo's Third-Party Parking Vendor
I recently joined the University of Toledo and, while the university itself is fantastic, the third-party parking service they contract with is nothing short of a nightmare. When I started, there was a registration issue on their end, and I was explicitly told I could park anywhere—this was during the summer when parking was plentiful. To my surprise, I later discovered they had issued me a ticket, sent to an address I had no connection with, instead of using my work email, which would have been logical and efficient.
In a second incident, I was onsite and unsure where to park, so I asked a security guard for assistance. After being told it was fine to park in a certain area, I returned to find yet another ticket. I filed multiple appeals, all of which were denied without any meaningful review.
When I spoke to their manager, Dexter, hoping for some clarity or resolution, I found him to be completely unaware of the situation and unhelpful. Rather than address my concerns, he resorted to empty threats of sending the ticket to collections. While I’m not intimidated by such tactics, I don’t have the time to continue dealing with this frustrating and inefficient system.
I truly hope the University receives a generous donation to reclaim control of their parking services from this third-party company. The current situation reflects poorly on what is otherwise a stellar institution.

    Hello Ryan,
In order to purchase a staff parking permit through ParkUToledo, you must be registered in the University’s banner system. If you are not in the university’s system, you will not be able to purchase a staff permit. Daily and monthly permits are available to visitors and hourly parking is also available by using meters or ParkMobile. Once you’re added to the university’s banner system, you will be eligible to purchase a staff permit.
Following the purchase of a permit, you are emailed a list of parking areas you are permitted to park with your specific permit.
For example, those with an “A” parking permit (staff) may park:
“This permit allows you to park in all of the following parking areas:
    Main Campus:
Area 1N- East of McMaster Hall
Area 1S- East of Health and Human Services
Area 2- East of McMaster Hall across North Towerview Blvd.

ParkUToledo information never suggests that parking is available without designated guidelines. If you purchased a parking permit, you will have received a “Where to Park with your Permit” email following your purchase.
If you are an employee of The University of Toledo and your vehicle is properly registered with a parking permit, citations will be emailed to your university email address. If your vehicle is not registered, ParkUToledo sends the vehicle information to your state’s DMV/BMV. If the information is sent to the DMV/BMV, the citation will be mailed to the address on file with your state.
To avoid future citations, please ensure your vehicle information is up to date in your parking portal and be sure to follow ParkUToledo’s Rules & Regulations.
If you have any questions regarding where you may or may not park with your parking permit, please refer to the “Where to Park with your Permit” email or contact the ParkUToledo office at [email protected]. This company is awful. Apparently there are different processes for adding vehicles and the website did not tell me. So now I have to pay a fine and they will not listen to what I'm saying. Just keep saying I did it wrong

Hey ****, since your vehicle wasn’t associated with a valid parking permit, you were initially issued a “Failure to Register” citation. Once you contacted the ParkUToledo office, your citation was reduced to a “Failure to Update” violation. As our customer service representative mentioned in that initial email and as stated by our office manager during your phone conversation on 6/30/23, please feel free to contact us via phone or email if you have any additional questions or need assistance with your account. Thanks, ParkUToledo

Issued a parking ticket while I was paying at a parking meter. Upheld the ticket fee even when I produced the receipt from my payment at the meter.
