Scammed moving in and scammed moving out. The then Executive Director of Westerville Senior Living suggested the family pickup Room #*** keys on the afternoon of March 15, 2024 to allow for an early start to move in on March 16, 2024, the date of the lease. Personal belongs were moved in on March 16th and the resident took possession of his set of keys that day. On April 1, 2024 an automatic bank withdrawal occurred for $146.77. The then Business Manager (personnel changes very frequently) explained that the $146.77 was a corporate charge for picking up one set of keys on the 15th instead of the 16th.
Now at move out, we're being scammed out of $126. Resident date of death was October 20, 2024 and family cleaned out room #**** of all personal belongs that evening. The last trip out of the building on the evening of October 20th, the front desk clerk told the family members that there is a new Maintenance Director starting and that we need to make an appointment with him the following day to perform a walk through check list and provide keys. Since rent is a prepayment at the beginning of each month, a refund was due to the resident as services stopped on date of death. The initial refund calculation from corporate office charged for services on the 21st and 22nd of October, which was after his death. Even though family and floor staff witnessed all personal belongs removed on Oct 20th, corporate business manager is declining payment of $126 stating that the new Maintenance Director recalls personal items in Rm #**** during the walk through on October 21st. Scammed moving in and scammed moving out. I'm sad that not all residents have family to help advocate for them and deal with the sloppy business practices of ******** ********** ************ ****  The seven months of residency were filled with inaccurate records and continual excuses of short staffing or lacking proper training. Doesn't have to be this way.

In May, 2023 the central air conditioning went out in my apartment at *********** ****** ****** managed by Spectrum Retirement Communities. I contacted management and in June, 2023 they provided one portable window unit and placed it in my bedroom.

Then I contacted management again on July 6, 2023 and they provided a second portable window unit and placed it in my second bedroom.

These two units did not provide heat relief in the living room and kitchen area where I spent most of my waking time. All the while, promising to fix the central air in my apartment. The living room temperature would get as high as 80-85 degrees. This affected my ability to cook in my independent living apartment.

Due to this situation, I gave them a 30 day move out notice dated July 21, 2023. The condition was so unbearable, I temporarily moved out on Friday, July 28, 2023 because as a wheelchair bound individual, the temperature was unacceptable and they did not provide a reasonable resolution to the air conditioning problem.

I have paid at least $4470.00 since I moved in November, 2022.

My repeated requests have fallen short of what was supposed to be provided as a renter.

The company has not offered any rental compensation. I want a billing adjustment going back to May, 2023.

I am willing to provide more documentation as necessary.
