The company is very shady. The representative who signed me up blatantly lied to me about several aspects of the plan and omitted key information. I was told that it was a monthly subscription, yet you are actually agreeing to a 52 week contract. I was also told that you could cancel any time, which is untrue. There is actually a fee equalling 15% of the full year price if you want to cancel, which for the once a week plan is $468. I definitely feel like I got scammed. And while I was reading the fine print on the multiple pages of the contract that the representative did not show me at sign up, I found a clause in there about how the program auto renews yearly. The exercise program itself seems good for getting started or building general fitness. However, I was told that I would receive a plan that was tailored to my personal goals, so I feel misled in this regard as well.

I was talked into signing the contract on 4/8/24. I didn't know about the cancelation window of 3 days or about the cancelation fee of 15% of $250. I tried to cancel on the same day and the gym just gave me the run around. I also tried to cancel with the head trainer and he talked me into staying but I don't want to stay, because I workout on my own and have been for almost a year now. I can't afford to continue this contract of membership. How do I get out?

I signed a contract with Compel Fitness in July 2023, paying over $2,000 in the past 6 months for personal training services. While I noticed positive physical changes, the undisclosed year-long commitment and a 15% cancellation fee, unless waived due to medical reasons or relocation, felt like a scam. Upon requesting cancellation, I was charged over $800, and it seems to be a recurring issue with other customers. The business's lack of transparency prior to joining and shifting blame onto customers is concerning and calls for accountability.

On the 11th month of my membership, I arrived at the gym to find my access denied. Upon inquiry, I was informed by the gym staff that Compel Fitness is not affiliated with the facility. This was a surprise to me as there was no prior indication of this during the almost year-long period of my membership.
In response to this sudden limitation, I expressed my willingness to transition to online-only classes offered by Compel Fitness. However, I was dismayed to discover that Compel Fitness had discontinued their online services, leaving me with no viable means to access the services for which I had paid.
The absence of tailored fitness guidance and nutritional coaching, which was a fundamental aspect of the service agreement, further exacerbated the dissatisfaction I experienced. Despite assurances during the sign-up process that I would receive individualized fitness plans and nutritional support, these promises were not fulfilled.
Given the circumstance, and considering that I was only one month away from completing my membership, I requested a cancellation of the final month and a refund equivalent to the one-month fee of $72. Regrettably, Compel Fitness adamantly refused to consider my request for a refund, offering alternatives that were not part of our initial agreement. These alternatives included purchasing a third-party membership, paying extra for personal 1-on-1 training or receiving the program via email, which I firmly declined.
This experience has been frustrating and has left me feeling deceived and unsupported as a customer. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of transparency, unfulfilled services, and the refusal to acknowledge or rectify the situation in a fair manner.

I initially joined Compel Fitness along with my mother during the summer break while I was home. Our fitness journey began at the Marley Station location, but unfortunately, we experienced poor treatment there. Miguel, who was aware of our situation, recommended that we transfer to the Crofton location. To our surprise, during our time at the Marley Station gym, we never received essential components like meal plans, home workouts, body measurements, or even access to the Compel app. This lack of attention to these aspects was only brought to our attention after Miguel intervened. Moreover, our contracts and safety forms were nowhere to be found at the Marley Station facility.
In accordance with my contract with Compel Fitness, I've made several attempts to resolve the issues regarding my membership. I've engaged with various employees including Kelly ******** Alex *******, Miguel and Leafy, all of whom work at Compel Fitness. However, their responses regarding my account's buyout payment and the accumulating additional charges have been inconsistent and confusing. Despite signing an account freeze around a month ago, my account remained unfrozen when I communicated with Kelly and Alex about the freeze. I expressed my willingness to pay the buyout fee of 15% as stipulated in my contract or the $250 payment stated in additonal cancellation rights #5.
To complicate matters, when I attempted to cancel my membership without a buyout fee due to my student status, I was instructed to provide documentation from my school indicating my residency or proof of returning to my residence, such as a bill, lease, or campus housing proof. Unfortunately, I was not informed about the required document date. As a result, I submitted documents spanning a year, including billing information and a recent refund check with my university's address. All of these document were apparently ineligable even though I provided them with the requirements they orginally gave me.

I have had a terrible experience. I joined ***** *** in June 2022. I was called by a personal trainer that in my understanding, worked at Golds gym. I was told there was not an extra fee, it was included in my membership. I met with the personal trainer on 6/17/2022. We discussed my goals and I explained to him that I knew how to workout, I just needed a motivator and that my plan was to just get back on track. He sounded very supportive and understood. After my fitness assessment, he then began explaining to me what we could do to reach my goals. He briefly read over a contract and had me electronically sign the contract. He zoomed in so the only thing visible was the line to sign. He never discussed a cancellation fee nor policy and I was under the impression that it was month to month. The next day I left the gym and saw a charge of $589.00. I immediately messaged the trainer and explained to him that I am 19 years old, in college full time while in between jobs and financially I could not afford that and requested a refund. He reassured me that he would fix it for me and would contact corporate. He never pointed me into the direction of a cancellation form. I followed up a few days later and still no response. I then requested my contract which was sent three weeks after signing the contract to which I see a cancellation form could have been signed within the first 3 days of agreeing to the membership. I called the number listed on the contract and tried explaining my situation to two employees in which they told me I should have read my contract better and asked when I could pay my next balance. Since they have charged me again and I have tried to dispute it through my bank and they have rebutdtaled it. My next step is to contact the better business bureau and the attorney general. I have contacted this company with no results 3 months later. I have been taken advantage of, I was lied to and not one person has tried to help me.
