I have never used the services of Legal Shield. I was conned into a monthly membership. I tried to cancel this membership. On December 7, 2023 I called a Legal Shield representative and explained to her how I had been exploited, that I did not want the services and had never used the services, and wanted the membership canceled. Thr rep was shocked at the tactics used to sign me up and made a note of it for my file. I was told to send an email to *************************************** and to include my membership number along with the words "cancel" and "refund". I did as instructed, and was assured that my membership was canceled and I would receive a refund. On December 29th, 2023, I received a check in the mail from LegalShield for $29.95 (about half of what I was supposed to receive). I deposited the check back into the bank and sent another email to LegalShield demanding the rest of the money I was due. They have not repaid me anything. This month they attempted to make another withdrawal from my bank account, which caused my bank to charge me a $25 stop-payment fee. They are still trying to take my money. I thought pyramid schemes were locally and federally illegal, and I feel like they are operating one. I would like my money back and to be reimbursed for my $25 bank fee.Business Response

Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. Ms. ***** had
both a LegalShield membership and an associate agreement. Ms. *****’ request to cancel and refund the
LegalShield membership was received on December 7, 2023. The membership was cancelled at that time and
one payment was refunded. I do see in the membership where two payments were authorized to be refunded, the
other payment is in the process of being issued. The draft that attempted was for the e-service charge on the
associate agreement. This has been removed from the associate agreement and it will cancel on its own, without
anything further needed from Ms. *****.

My Parents signed me up for ID shield 9/18/23. I wasn't required to give consent for this subscription. My parents credit card was paying for my subscription monthly in the amount of $19.95. My account was merged into my parents account. I wasn't able to properly use the account. 10/15/23, my mother sent ID shield a letter cancelling the subscription She was told that her account was closed and an email was all that was required was an email to cancel. I added my name and account number to her email requesting cancellation on 12/17/23. ID shield do not cancel my subscription. They sent me a bill, I received it on January 2, ****, for billing date 12/18/23. ID shield accepts checks and money orders. The bill claimed that I requested payment options for their service which is untrue. I never requested such information as I believed my subscription was canceled. I immediately sent a notarized letter 2-day shipping stating I demand this subscription be canceled immediately. I also enclosed a money order for $19.95 which covers the bill dated for 12/18/23 through 1/18/24. ID shield received my letter and money order on January 4, ****. On January 10, ****, My mother and I emailed ID shield several times demanding cancellation of this subscription. They never responded and my account is still open. My mother attempted to call they did not answer. They blocked my mothers email address. I have all the emails we sent to them. I have all records proving my account has been paid by my mothers credit card all the way up until this last payment they billed me for which I paid by money order. They refuse to communicate with me or my parents to resolve this. My fear is that this company is attempting to fraudulently bill me for services I do not consent too. I am in fear that this company is maliciously attempting to harm my credit by ignoring my requests to cancel this subscription. I all documentation needed to resolve this.Business Response

This letter is in response to the above referenced individuals’ complaint.
Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. In order to
cancel a membership, we must receive written request from the named member on the account. When Mr.
**********’ mother wrote to cancel the memberships, hers was cancelled and a payment hold was placed on Mr.
**********’ membership to prevent any further payments from his mother’s card. When that hold was placed, a
letter was sent to Mr. ********** so that he could update the payment information if he chose to keep his
IDShield membership. IDShield is a pre-paid membership, meaning the payment is taken to pay the membership
ahead. PPLSI never was and is not going to do anything that may harm Mr. **********’ credit. If he had not
made a payment, the membership would have cancelled on its own due to nonpayment. The email requests to
cancel were received and the membership has been cancelled and the last payment received that paid Mr.
********** into February has been refunded.

Referral Lawyer worked on and completed the matter. The Referral Lawyer requested information from Ms.
***** for the second matter, which the Referral Lawyer never received. The lawyer assigned to any member’s
matter cannot work on a legal matter without receiving all the information necessary. Ms. ***** chose to cancel
her LegalShield membership without providing the Referral Lawyer the needed information and prior to the

Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. One of Mr.
******’s former dependents from his membership, Marguerite, has a LegalShield membership that is being paid
from his card. A payment reminder was sent on November 20, 2023, to that member regarding the upcoming
annual renewal. If Mr. ****** no longer wishes to pay for that membership, he may respond to this complaint
stating so and I can have the payment refunded and the card information removed. Since the payment was not
for his membership, a payment reminder was not sent to him. The cancel request for his membership was
received and the membership has been cancelled.

On November 27th, 2023, I contacted LegalShield.com via email regarding issues with their website not allowing me to manage my benefits and my account information. This was preventing me from using my attorney services because they were having trouble locating my active account, which I was billed for. I was advised via email that I needed to call legal shield to resolve. Around the first week of December, I called legal shield and I was told a ticket was sent to IT to resolve and it would take 24/48 hours to resolve. This week I received an email stating that my credit card needs to be updated, however there is no way for me to do so since the website issue was never resolved. I contacted legal shield again and they stated they wanted to collect the full months payment but I cannot use the services until their IT department can fix the issue. This can take an additional 24/48 hours on top of what I already was told in the first week of December. This means that for now over a month, their services have not been working properly. They refuse to resolve with a credit and have yet to fix the account management tool.Business Response

than one way to manage an account and open intakes for LegalShields memberships. The issues ****************
experienced were reported and have been addressed. Online access is not required to use the LegalShield
membership. A member can call their Provider Law Firm to open an intake during business hours. The
membership payment is up to date and the services have been available to the member at any time since the
member enrolled in the LegalShield membership. The legal plan is in the name of the members business, which

I am rejecting this response because:The business has provided false and misleading information to the BBB.
The membership was in fact suspended at the time that this file was opened with the BBB. After multiple phone calls to support, the ability to update my credit card information via their secure web portal was fixed and that is why the account is now current.
During the suspended period, I was asked to provide my credit card to a foreign call center. Due to data breach and security concerns, we do not provide our credit card information over the phone. Therefore, the web product is the secure and correct way to provide the info requested.
We did in fact CALL our law firm and we were told the services were suspended and we could not open a file. So we did in fact comply with the businesses statement that there are more than one way to open a case file.
The business has failed to address the fact that they failed to provide a full service product (in this case the web portal) that resulted in a suspension of services in which we still had to pay full value for

letter has space for the member to provide payment information that they can mail in, scan and send in by email,

I had a monthly service with Legal Shield for ***** a month. I needed an Attorney for court as the manager of my apartment complex was trying to evict me because she would not renew my lease because I joined a ************ and also found out the manager was in violation of several **** codes. They were serious enough that they needed to be addressed and I filed complaints. In retaliation she refused to renew my lease knowing I could not afford to pay rent there and find new living arrangements. I needed a lawyer because I felt what she was doing was illegal and so I used my membership to get Legal defense. ********************* sent me an email to call the lawyer she had assigned ASAP. I called the firm listed on the email, asked for the Attorney and was told he was gone. Could I speak with someone else? No. Could he contact me I also asked. Not till the next Monday they said. It was too late to get another one because court date was the next Monday. The Judge gave me an extra 10 days which was what I needed and asked the manager if the Eviction could just be dropped if I was gone. She said no she wanted the eviction. Had I had the representation I needed I feel I would not have this on my record. I am devastated a nd had to leave behind several belongings because I had no help and very little money. opened an intake October 27 for a hearing on October 31 regarding an intake she already had open with the
Provider Law Firm. The Provider Lawyer called ****************** and left her a message within 2 hours of the
duplicate intake being opened. On October 30, ****************** called the Provider Law Firm again, the Provider
Law Firm immediately found a referral and gave ****************** the Referral Lawyers contact information and
advised her to call the referral right away. ****************** did not call the referral until the morning of the hearing
when he was already in court with another client. ****************** had not retained the Referral Lawyer for her
legal matter. The Provider Lawyer did everything they could to assist ****************** in the short amount of time

I have been getting charged on my Citizens credit card for LegalShield services that I did not authorize going back to Dec 2022 I have called 3 times and emailed LegalShield multiple times- the first time being November 7,2023 and NO ONE has gotten back to me First call- I was told the charges on my card ending in **** was seen by them and I needed to send email to LegalShield stating they were unauthorized which I did and never received any response despite me sending repeated emails Second call- I was told that they did not see any activity on card ending in **** but after looking further noted some charges under another name- not mine and was told they would look into it and call me back- no one ever called me back 3rd call the woman said she could not see ANY charged under my account - when I gave her the membership number that I was told was being charged to my card- she told me there was a page of names under that membership so unless 8 knew who the membership belonged to- she could not help me I stated that a list of names under 1 membership makes no sense. I asked to speak to a manager which she did not want to do. After I persisted she said she would send me to someone else- but call ended up being disconnect So I ended up sending another email to address these transactions- and received NO FOLLOW UP Today I open my credit card statement- which is a NEW credit card issue by bank when they noted the fraudulent charges and there are 2 more charges on my NEW card Since I did do business with LegalShield in the past- which I cancelled in 2022- the bank said I had to contact LegalShield to resolve this issueBusiness Response

Upon receipt of this Better Business Bureau Complaint, we have reviewed the membership file. The
memberships Ms. ****** had been paying for were located during her first call to LegalShield regarding this
matter. Ms. ****** sent an email requesting a refund and, in accordance with Federal Reserve Laws, two
months payments for the LegalShield and IDShield memberships she had been paying for her ex-son in law
were refunded on November 6. The refund was $59.90 for the LegalShield membership and $29.90 for the
IDShield membership, these refunds are in the picture of Ms. ******’ bank statement she submitted with this
complaint. An additional refund is being reviewed by management. Our office will be closed for the holiday and
will reopen on Wednesday, December 27.

I contacted them yesterday to cancel. Two reps sent me an email to "reply" to cancel. The first rep claimed i owe for nov and dec um no i don't, it's a mo a mo service and that was confirmed by the 2nd rep. **** no response i emailed the address that was within the email stating i wanted the membership canceled today or i'd file reports and not only with the bbb. I received an email stating they're working on it, hmp. My card was canceled due to fraud is why they haven't been able to charge it. I refuse to add another online. Some company has been blowing up my phone masking their real number. When i called she answered as legalshield and i told her to stop lying because they're virtuoso, legalshields puppet. Legalshield is sending me tons of emails and letters just straight harrasment. If i haven't sent a dime, that means i dropped the service. As easy as it is to sign up it should be that easy to cancel. It should not be this hard to cancel. I want it canceled.Business Response

My member Number is *********** November the 25th I open a file with the attorney at *********************** to be serviced. Service was not provided.Legal shield provides services through other law firm. My provider is *********************** on their legal shield plan.I have a contract a business contract for any legal documents to be reviewed as long as it falls within 15 page limit.I've been reaching out to the law firm since November and had a lawyer talk to me on December 5 2023 and closed all my files.And had lied about servicing me when she has not I provided solid evidence to the law firm. And talk to legal shield the provider to provide further services for dishonesty and I was not serviced.Also misleading fact or stated about me such as I have drafted the whole agreement the only thing I have submitted to the law firm is documentation to be reviewed.I'm very upset with the lack of service and I am expecting for legal shield to resolve the matter between me and the law from provider. I am rejecting this response because:I have called legal shield regarding and unprofessional conduct done by the lawyer. They say they could not help me but that lawyer help me partially enclosed all my files. The reason for my complaint with the lack of professionalism.
The law firm ended up helping me. The fact that legal shield requested recording of the incident and turnaround and said they can't take it for privacy issues had put me in a disadvantage.
This is not the first time the law firm has acted unprofessional with the response time in the lack of service.
The law firm has been helping me review title searches and giving me opinion for a couple of months pretty much a half a year. My argument was they have stopped all the sudden make an issue out of not helping me.
The issues that I would like to address unprofessional conduct of both of my firm and legal shield as a provider.
Also I was getting help for the same matter they're arguing the fact that they have preferred me out for me to pay. The problem is I am being misled in so many ways by both the law firm and legal shield I have evidence to this and I also have the recording of the unprofessional conduct of the lawyer at the law firm.
She had called me up and apologize and now they are serving me accordingly.
My main concern is also with legal shield for the lack of understanding of how service should be handled. And how level of professionalism should be conducted.
I think at this point for the inconvenience if they refer me out I would not like a 25% discount I would like 75% discount considering on the grief I've been through.
In three months worth of free service!
I'm that I took off my work!

I am rejecting this response because:This is wasting my time trying to argue the same argument over and over again with legal shield. I have discussed the lack of service. I have proven provided all the service pertaining these files I have also argue the fact that they are not providing services which is underneath the plan review of any legal documents and I have a particular documents in real estate which this affects my job. And this is why I went with this service plan with legal shield they are causing me hardship and affecting my business overall.
They do not have a ride to treat me like this is a consumer and I will not tolerate anybody disrespecting me at the law firm or legal shield as a customer.
Providing malicious rumours about my character is a breach to which legal shield/******************** have already reached.
I am looking for some sort of compensation as this is affected me in my job I've already opened an Resolution file with the Member Services.
I have not gotten anywhere with them they are very difficult and unresponsive to my situation and very disrespectful to me.
I am expecting to mediate the situation in a manner some form of compensation for the time that I've lost which had affected my job.
And the inconvenience and discomfort with the relationship and connection of one particular Service that was not handled professionally!
