on aug 24 2022 i called wilcox plumbing about a septic system over flowing. they told me they could come aug 29. they told me they charged $130/hr.they sent a pumping truck and an excavator. took 4 hours to find and pump the tank. then they gave me the bill.charged me $350 to send the pumping truck and $200 to send the excavator. plus $72 for mileage.and then $520 for labor.the job i hoped wouldn't be over $500 cost me $1,142.if they had told me in advance the service charge, i would have told them "no thank you". but they didn't and i had to pay an unreasonable service charge with no benefit.i hope this will keep other old people who can't afford them from calling them.

    Business Response

We received a call from ******************************* that he was having trouble with his sewer system and wanted to have it pumped. We informed him that we do not service *****, ******** which is 62 miles round trip for us. He told us no one else would come out there to service them and asked us to reconsider. We then informed him that if he could wait until our next opening we would try, he informed us that the ground was hard to dig and unsure of the exact location of the sewer tank. We informed him that the septic pump is $350.00 plus the mileage and labor (130/per Hour) charge from the shop and back, and we would bring an excavator because of the distance from the shop and we would charge $200.00 if we needed to use it to cut down on the labor. Told him if everything goes quickly it would be around $500.00 at the minimum. He replied that he had to have it done and to send the guys out. The tank did need to be pumped due to the thickness of the crust, we also found that the end of the lateral system was surfacing water which is a result of the ground no longer accepting water. We informed the customer that a perk test will need to be done and turned into DEQ and a new system may be required. To help the customer out we gave them a discount of one hour on labor which brings the total to $1,142.00 Please see second the attachment.
