We purchased a vehicle in November 2021 with severe structure damage that was not disclosed while purchasing the vehicle. When we went to another dealership to trade in march 2022 that is when we found out we were sold a car with prior structural damage. We contacted patriot auto group who said that if we come in they will do what they can help us out. After driving two hours from our home with 3 toddlers, we get there only for them to waste our time for hours and attempt to lowball us on trading in our vehicle instead of giving us what we paid for. All we asked was for them to give us what we had originally paid for the vehicle towards another vehicle we were going to purchase from them and they wouldn’t even do that. I’m not surprised to see others be sold cars with undisclosed damage.

On 2/25/23 my wife and I purchased a gently used 2022 Honda Pilot from Patriot McAlester, from a salesman named Colten ******. We agreed on the total price, and I reaffirmed the total price multiple times during the transaction.

The first red flag was that the loan payment x the loan duration = much more than the agreed price. When I questioned this, he gave me a rehearsed response “that’s the total if you only make minimum payments with interest and such”. Again, I confirmed the total price and he agreed. We signed a pad attached to a computer and they essentially copied and pasted our signatures to an online contract that did not have any prices showing.

The second red flag was that the finance person would not use my preferred lender. I asked about the documents and was told they were all available online. I was not too concerned about this because I’ve purchased and refinanced to my lender in the past, so we continued. We finished up and went to leave. At some point the salesman handed my wife an envelope and said to “keep it in her glove box”.

We departed with her new to us car and all seemed well. On Wednesday of the next week, I logged onto the banking app for the lender they set us up with to see that the principal balance/ payoff amount was thousands more than we agreed to! I called the dealership daily and they would never put me through to the manager, Joseph ********. I have left several unanswered messages to return my call. I was able to get the salesman on his cellphone, but his rehearsed responses of “I’m just a salesman” and “my job is to find a payment that works for you” are of no resolution.

This dealer is 2 hours from us. My attorney has advised me not to go back up there in person at this time. Reaching out to the BBB is the first thing he recommended, since the dealership management will not respond.

We just want to get this settled, we do wish to keep the vehicle for the agreed price. Any help is appreciated.

I have reviewed the business’ response and accept this
resolution. solution was for us to buy a more expensive vehicle, for a higher payment and longer financing terms. Following all of that, my wife reached back out to the Service Manager to get the service records for the vehicle. The Service Manager refused to let us see the service history of it. Obviously this was unsatisfactory to us both. To date, it has been 13 weeks since we have last seen our vehicle, and there is no end in sight.

This Transaction actually happened at a different store. This is not a Mcalester Patriot CDJR Customer. I did reach out to Customer, and she stated that all was settled and had been made right.
