I hired ******* to remodel my kitchen. Demolishion work was started Jan 11, 2023 with a competition date of 02Feb. ****'s employee **** (last name unknown) primarily did the work in the beginning. ****'s 17 year old grandson was helping **** with the work. On 2 Feb **** said he had let **** go & he was going to complete the project. Met with **** on 3 Feb to discuss concerns, specific issues & get a new completion date. **** stated there were approx. 7 days of work left. **** was to start the work Feb 7. **** came on 7 Feb & worked from 830 to 430. On 8 Feb **** arrived at 1 pm & worked until 425 pm. On 9 Feb **** arrived at 930 & left at 430 pm. **** did not work 10 Feb. He worked 2 1/2 days that week. Feb 13th he arrived at 830 am & left at 430 pm. Feb 14th he arrived at **** and left at 430. Feb 15th he arrived at 130 & left at 430 pm. Feb 16th he painted. Arrived at 9 am. Paint has runs, cabinets were not painted many locations, nail holes show, dry wall is rough, type of paint is not what I asked for & paint is on kitchen floor. Kitchen floor is not be replaced. **** said when he paints second coat it will correct all areas. Countertop was to be installed on 15 Feb but since **** was not finished painting countertop he delayed till Friday the 17th. **** called on 17 Feb at 2 pm to let me know Countertop was not coming that day so would be installed on Monday 20 Feb. **** now says he can fix all paint issues after the countertop is installed. I have no faith in ****'s ability to finish the job to my satisfaction. I have been without a kitchen for almost 6 weeks with no end in sight of when this project would be finished. His work habits have shown he did not finish the project within the 7th days we agreed to on 3 Feb. I'm now requesting a refund of enough money paid so I can hire a different contractor to finish this project. I'm 80 years ******** is very inconvenient and stressful to not be able to use my kitchen. Pictures attched

******************* is correct that my first ********* on this job did not do a good job taking care of this customer. As a result the job has dragged on far beyond what we had anticipated timewise. Once this information was made clear to me about the work that he was doing, he was let go. I believe that **** was suffering from burn out and needed a change. I went to the customers home this morning February 20, 2023 and spoke to Miss ******** sister *******. She and I had a discussion about how my company will handle finishing her job within the financial guidelines that have already been paid. ******************* suffers from a heart condition that requires her to take special medications that cause her anxiety to rise as a result. That alone is enough in spite of tearing out an entire kitchen, and trying to rebuild it from scratch to raise anybodys anxiety. Czerczyk Remodeling agrees to pay for the subcontractors, needed to finish her job up to the amount that she has paid us to date. Once the job is finished, if the amount paid out exceeds what she owes, she will be responsible for the difference, but if it turns out less than she has paid, we will cut her a check for the difference.
We regret that we could not reach an agreement that would work for both of us for our company to finish her work, but her health issues come first.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:I cannot accept the offer.  I am an 80 year old widow having recently lost my husband of 60 yrs.    His character was best described as having integrity.  Today, it is often replaced with money involved.  I try to seek the good in people and leave the bad to Him who knows how to round off the corners. **** seemed trusting & to have all the answers until the work interfered  with his other 2 major projects.I became an afterthought .  Work schedule varied day to day.  ***(not real name) worked on the cabinets in the beginning along with ****'s grandson.  Both were trainees in making cabinets.  Trainee learning from trainee.  My contract states that work will be free of defects.  The work is not satisfactory.  **** used a faulty sprayer for painting which resulted in rough surface, globbing of paint, and over spray.  My refrigerator in the next room received paint on the side from this.  Nothing was used to keep the dust and saw materials from the rooms adjoining the kitchen.  I have them full of dust along with my garage where they did the sawing...nothing was covered.  I paid **** 3 consecutive payments of ******* weekly expecting my small kitchen to be complete by Feb.2, 2023.  Many items are missing and some unsatisfactory workmanship...sides, drawers, splitting of wood on cabinets and uncovered nails showing along with my floor having paint on it plus 2 large holes in them from equipment. My sister made no agreement with **** to settle this.  He suggested we put items on his credit card that we needed.  I said no.  I have paid for the cabinets already and refuse to pay any more to get the cabinets completed.I may need to relocate as I have had no water, stove, sink, or cabinets for going on 7 weeks.  I do thank the BBB for helping the public when they feel helpless in a situation. Pictures available upon request.

    Sincerely,

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:I had a professional contractor here this morning doing an evaluation on the kitchen.  Here is his evaluation:  Wood was not primed, one corner piece where wood is split needs replaced, inconsistent framework, paint used was not for cabinets, cabinets were not sanded, drawers held together by staples instead of dove tail, used trim nails to attach cabinets to wall, one cabinet not squared properly and may need ripped out, cannot fit stove into opening as the cabinet sides are warped, not quality lumber used, did not plane the wood and wood not quality wood.We are getting an estimate to correct defective work, and materials needed to complete the job plus labor required to finish the job.  The contractor will testify to this statement.

    Sincerely,
